Yes, I think so. Maybe you'd want to look for a summary of what happens in the first three parts, or look up some historical information about the character he plays. Hans' character appears in the last minute of part three, but it's really a very very short scene. Anyway, I haven't seen the first parts and it still made sense to me. :)
