Hans Matheson picspam

Sherlock Holmes has given me a serious crush on Hans Matheson (and on Mark Strong, but let's not go there for the moment), aka Lord Coward, the cool guy with the silly name. ;) So I started hunting down movies he was in, and one of the movies I found is a TV-four-parter from 2005, called The Virgin Queen, about - surprise, surprise - Elizabeth I. I had hoped he would be in all four parts, but unfortunately he's only in part four (and in the last two minutes of part three). The movie wasn't all that exciting, but Hans was incredible as the Earl of Essex. He really is a great actor, extremely convincing as this manic-depressive, self-centred, charismatic, arrogant, charming noble brat. He described the role himself as "someone who slaps a guy in the face and then looks at him like, 'yeah, I slapped you in the face, but I'm the Earl of Essex, so what are you going to do about it?'". He actually does slap someone in the face, btw, it's not just metaphorical. Anyway, part four is definitely worth watching for his amazing performance; I honestly haven't watched the first three parts.

Long story short, Hans is also disturbingly beautiful, so I capped the hell out of this movie, and I thought I'd share. I hope it will inspire some people to write fic ... about Hans, about Coward, about any other character he's ever played, anything would make me happy. :D

I absolutely LOVE his eyes, and I'm usually not really into blue eyes.

Did I mention that his character has serious mother issues and a weird relationship with the Queen?

He does have quite a temper...

Boots. Hands. Boots AND hands. Guh.

Some comic relief to calm down again ... Because if you wear a funny collar, you have to make funny faces:

I love how he's making fun of everyone in this movie ... when he's not being paranoid and angry:

... or being an angsty mess:

Someone send a Blackwood or a Mark to hug him please?

Have some more angst ... making him cry is like kicking a puppy ...

Love his lips on this one.

I had to include one of the (many) pictures of him on horseback. I've read in an interview that Hans loves riding and that he was so happy he got to spend so much time with horses while doing this movie. Somehow I found that very sweet.

"Bitch please."

Gratuitous groin shot. *distracted*

I have no idea what he's doing there, but he looks very concentrated.

I kept the best things for the end ... First, bathtub scene: including feet that could give anyone a foot kink, general nudity, messy wet hair ...

(I'm working on a little Blackwood/Coward ficlet inspired by these pictures. :))

And it gets even better ...

... no comment needed ...

I had way too many caps to post, these are the best. I hope you enjoyed them. More Hans picspams might follow if I watch more movies and have the patience for caps. I might also do a picspam of Mark Strong because my inner slasher has decided that they belong together. ;) Until then, I'll try to get some Blackwood/Coward and/or Mark/Hans fic written. Comments are love. Squee with me. ;)

Right, and I almost forgot ... at some point in the movie he says to the Queen: "I see now, this is where I belong. I was a fool to stray so far from you." I can very well see Coward saying this to Blackwood as well ... but then again, I see that pairing everywhere. ;)

*drools all over her computer* HE IS SO HOT!!!

Now I really have to get my hands on that movie.

Since I've seen Sherlock Holmes I've been watching the second season of the Tudors over and over again, it's sad that Hans is not in the third season.

I found a nice torrent to download it; I think it shouldn't be too difficult to find this. :D You only need part four, unless you're interested in watching the whole series. (Okay, Hans also has a one-minute-appearance at the end of part three.) Hans is incredible in this movie. :D

Haha, I know what you mean. I loved him as Cranmer, and I ship Cranmer/Cromwell so hard it hurts. Unfortunately there's virtually no fic about them. :(

Thanks, but I think I will try to get all four parts, because then I can claim I only watch it, because the time and events interest me, because I study history - I love it to have an excuse for being a retarded fangirl ^^

Yeah, James Frain and Hans are such a cute couple in the Tudors. I haven't found any Tudor slash so far - that's so wrong! There are so many slashable persons in it!

Heh, okay, I understand. I have lost every shame and just admit that I'm a retarded fangirl. I mean, yesterday I just watched the last hour of The Mists of Avalon because I only wanted Hans, not the rest of the stupid movie. Made screencaps again, I hope I'll find the time to post them. :/

Yeah, everyone is slashable in this show. :( But as much as I love other pairings, Cromwell/Cranmer are by far my favourite. As far as I know, there are only two fics for them, both very short and not smutty, but really well written and with awesome characterisation: this one (http://community.livejournal.com/thetudors_slash/8863.html) and this one (http://community.livejournal.com/thetudors_slash/6408.html) . But the world definitely needs more than just two fics. Problem is that, while I am a history geek, I know a lot less about ths 16th century than I know about the early 20th, and I'm so afraid to get it all wrong if I base my characterisation only on the show. I don't want the history geeks to cry while reading my fic. ;)

I don't have shame either, but it's better when you as a student fake interest in the papers you read about the Tudors and don't admit that you try to find something that'll make your inner fangirl happy XD

Thank you very much for the links *trolls of to read*

True, true. I mean, I don't study history (unfortunately, I regret it now), but English, so I don't have to fake professional interest in historical stuff because it's just for fun. Still, of course it's better to be historically interested instead of just looking for slash hints.

You're welcome. Have fun. :) Unfortunately it's really all there is. I need mooooooooore. :(
