I'm so glad he got an important role, and that he got to be something else than the villain. Sure, he wasn't always a nice guy, but he wasn't THE bad guy of the movie. He definitely had his creepy moments, but I love this mixture of charisma, charm, manners on the one hand, and cold, ruthless intelligence on the other. And Roger was obviously attracted by that as well.
