linndechir | Picspam: Mark Strong in Body of Lies

This really deserves the word 'spam' by now, doesn't it? I'm sorry, I've been meaning to post these caps with the ones yesterday, but this incredibly slow internet connection is driving me insane. Today's spam material: Body of Lies. Again, awesome movie. I have to admit that I really like Leonardo DiCaprio sometimes, even if I paid much more attention to Mark in this movie than to him. ;) Mark is just incredible - I never knew English with an Arabic accent could sound sexy. It can. I absolutely love the characters Mark chooses to play, and in this movie he isn't even a real bad guy. Not a very nice guy at times, but definitely not the big villain. Anyway, pictures say more than my rambling, let Mark convince you to watch the movie. :)

I love the beard. And the hair. And his clothes.

And his smile/laugh.

And ... okay, I love everything about this man.

He also pulls off a great WTF-face in this movie. Repeatedly.

Did I mention that he smokes in this movie?

I too would have loved a sequel just about Hani: his rise to head of Jordanian intelligence, his family life, etc. But because this movie did so poorly and not that many people went to see it, Mark's pitch perfect performance went largely unnoticed. I blame Ridley and Crowe. Their last venture, Robin Hood, also tanked.

I think Mark as Hani gave a star-making performance. But then again, I have not yet seen him in anything that he has been bad in, and many of his performances were star-making...unfortunately the movies did so poorly, no one got to see Mark. His turn as Septimus in Stardust was spectacular. Once again, he stole the movie. I think that if they had paired him with Michelle Pfieffer in that movie, they would have lit up that movie like a rocket. Two beautiful, charismatic characters.

To get back to Body of Lies, I thought the exchange between Ferris and Hoffman right before they walk into Hani's office was very strange. When Hoffman quotes Snead's line : "If you're not thinking about p***, you're just not concentrating...my dear," is he implying that Hani likes Ferris in a sexual way? I would have thought from that (and the "my dears" to Ferris that Hani had a thing for young men. Also the way he is kind of enjoying the whipping of the naked agent) But we are shown that not only is Hani a married father of two, but that he also likes the blond ladies at the local nightclubs. So clearly, Hani is hetero.

So what was with that line?

As a slasher, I am very much convinced that Hani has a thing for Roger. I don't see his family and blonde Western women as a problem ... some people are bi, it's that easy. *shrug*

Either way, I agree, Mark steals every single movie he's in. I really hope he'll get a bit more fame now that he's doing more American movies ... still, I also hope he won't neglect all those awesome little English projects I loved so much. And I REALLY want to see him playing a main character again - his Harry Starks was probably the best thing he ever did.Even though that's incredibly difficult to say, considering all the great roles he has played.

I KNOW! Robinhood, surprisingly, didnt went as well as i had hoped when i was anticipating the movie as i watch the trailer. The movie isnt that bad, i mean yeah - Ridley Scott's movie isnt for everyone in the first place, but they are well thought of - i mean in terms of the plot and how he brings the story. I mean i looove Gladiator.

As for Stardust, i cant say much coz i havent watch it. I DIDNT know he was in it until the recent stalking is done :P.

Exactly. I mean Hani and Ferris thing is definitely a bit..controversial sexually XP. I mean the exchanging of dialogues, and yes that quote u take from the film itself, Hoffman was poking Ferris, and for me, my first impression is that he might have noticed how Hani treats and talks to Ferris, was pretty more than he normally would to any other? I dont know. FISHY. really. Hani cares about Ferris? Definitely. He loves him? Yes, we can see that he does have some love and liking for him - not sexually, like one human to another, but ngeee, sexually fishy as well.
The blondie, the wife - c'mon, men could stay het, and still have a sexual liking for another man and bang him, and still comes home and be a woman's husband.
