I get the same reaction to ALL Stannis fics, and even to Stannis in canon. I think there's even a tumblr called "stannisneedsahug". It really doesn't help that he wouldn't let anyone hug him. *sigh* I'll go and write more Stannis angst now. It's therapeutic, it's like reminding yourself that your life really isn't bad. ;)
