I have a pretty ambiguous view on the whole issue myself, and while I can understand Godric, I completely took Eric's side here. I can understand why somebody wants to kill themselves, but I don't see anyone, let alone someone as stubborn and egocentric as Eric, accept that the person who means everything to him (not just some random acquaintance, but someone he loves) kills himself and leaves him alone. And I found it even less convincing that Godric could look into Eric's eyes, see how much Eric loves him, and still just send him away. Now this was plainly out of character, and that's not just my fangirl in denying speaking.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I just wanted to thank you for commenting. I'll see how the story goes on; I will probably have to handle the issue of suicide again, and I hope that I'll manage to keep them more in character than the show did. :/
