Actually, I did have a similar dream about a real-life German being chained to a bed and eating croquembouche off him, but that isn't very relevant. In my defence, I did read a misprint just before I slept noting that "His pleasure in the pubic adulation he received was diminished..." when I'm sure it was supposed to say "public adulation."
