I've been asked by several people recently to explain my violent dislike for het, I might just have to write a proper rant on my lj some time soon and explain all the details. I can't stand het. I can't stand to read it, let alone write it, simply because I find het fic disgusting. There are many, many reasons for that, but the most simple reason as far as smut is concerned is the following: I don't find women sexually attractive, not the tiniest little bit. Therefore, I don't want any women in my porn. I wouldn't write porn about women any more than I'd write porn about a man I find repulsive. Why should I write, or read, porn about a person I find hot and one I find unattractive, when I can have porn about two men I both find hot? I can't read/write het and imagine myself in the place of the woman; instead I think, "yuck, I don't want to read about breasts and vaginas, I'd rather have two men men in there because they're BOTH hot." That's the basic reason. Add to that loads of personal gender issues and a general dislike for female characters. But the main reason is really just the porn: I find two men together incredibly hot; in fiction I find a man and a woman together not one bit interesting or arousing. The fact that most het pairings don't have half as much depth and profound dynamics as good slash pairings only makes my dislike stronger.
Does that make any sense to you? If not, please tell me; I don't mind explaining this. Again, there are more complicated reasons, but in the end it just boils down to this: het disgusts me, slash turns me on. Why should I read or write porn that disgusts me?
About the gay Nazis ... well, most of the Nazis I write about are bisexual: Heydrich and Schellenberg most certainly are, so is Marseille, and so is Landa. I don't see Landa as exclusively gay, I'm sure he sleeps with women, probably even more often than with men. I just don't have the slightest interest in writing or reading about these encounters. Hellstrom, on the other hand, I see as exclusively gay and pretty much incapable of getting it up with a woman. I'm not quite sure how he stays save from suspicions, but if Max manages, so does Hellstrom, he's smarter than Max. ;)
Drooling over Reinhard, om nom, thanks for the picture. :D Seriously, how could I write het about him? I want that man all for myself, I don't want some stupid female character to get him. I'd die of jealousy, no matter how much of a self-insert that character would be. If I can't have Heydrich, I don't want other women to have him either. I want him to have hot gay sex for my entertainment. ;)
