Mark Strong picspam

Spam indeed ... yet another picspam, this time for my other new obsession, Mark Strong. There's a bunch of pictures from different movies, premieres, promo shots etc., followed by many many screenshots from Stardust. Because Mark Strong is hot in general, but he has never been hotter than as Septimus, I think. Not to mention that Septimus is plainly awesome and one of the many reasons to watch the movie. ^^

Those EYES. And ever since Patrick Stewart we know that bald is sexy. ^^

As Blackwood in Sherlock Holmes:

He's smiling. Top that! Smiling Blackwood made my week, I think.

Is that his bedroom look? Because if it isn't, I think the real bedroom look would kill me on sight. Guh.

... this is just creepy ...

I love this pic - does anyone know what movie it's from?

He said himself that he's frowning pretty much all the time ... yeah, I can see that. ^^

From Body of Lies. It took me about half a minute even to notice that Leonardo DiCaprio is on that photo as well. ;D

Is it just me or does he have incredibly slender, almost dainty hands for a man his size?

As Norfolk in Henry VIII. Epic frown. ^^

I think that's a smile. No?

Erm ...

I think this is from Tristan + Isolde.

Pity Hans is on none of these premiere pictures, otherwise this one would be absolutely perfect. RDJ's expression is hilarious.

From Good. He only has a tiny, tiny role, but the movie is still worth watching ... Viggo Mortensen, all I'm saying.

From Stardust:

Meet Prince Septimus.

Did you see the leather coat? Good.

That smirk ...

"Why should I kill my sister when these two cretins are still alive?" Love that line. ^^

Again, EYES!

You know you're screwed when Septimus is laughing at you.

"Has excessive begging or pleading ever persuaded me to spare the life of a traitor?"

You can't expect me to make a picspam without a boot shot ...

... or a hand shot ... guh. Thanks for making my knife kink even worse.

The bad pun about him being smoking hot sorta writes itself ...

This picture makes me LOL so hard. :)

Best WTF-face ever. Then again, you'd look like that too if you were suddenly facing this:

Surprise!De Niro in drag! :D

If you don't find him hot on this picture, I really can't help you anymore. Guh.

I think I've taken up enough of your time. I hope you enjoyed the spam. ^^ Come on, Mark deserves more love and attention from everyone.

So is mine. I just said in another comment - this icon is true for me pretty much all the time. Nobody can blame us, with so much hotness running around on screen (and occasionally even irl ... that reminds me, I recently saw a guy at my university who looked like a mixture between RDJ and Hugh Jackman, I almost died on the spot ... and then he started speaking in the most annoying, most whiny, most disgusting voice I've ever heard. That was the one minute per day when I didn't think about sex. ;))

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I read that other comment, and I'm afraid I'll be using the same icon myself. I believe I wrote to you offline about how much I hate the whole "we-women-are-above-those-beastly-men" philosophy. Life would be far better for all of us if we could just acknowledge that we're all filthy sluts at heart. ;-)

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, I didn't get around yet to reply to your e-mail, or else I would have told you that that's my main reason for hating dumb!feminists. Dumb!feminists meaning the "we women are above those beastly men"-twats, who are pretty much as intolerant and narrow-minded as you can get. Because I don't see any difference between a conservative man who tells me that I shouldn't have sex because a nice, good woman only has boring missionary sex with her husband to have kids, and a dumb!feminist who tells me that I'm not an independent woman if I'm a) straight, b) a masochist and a sub, c) promiscuous. And now I'll stop before this turns into a hate rant. ;)

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn't agree with you more. They're both equally narrow-minded and intolerant. Besides, promiscuity is just so much more fun. ;-)
And I have to say that it's that highmindedness that I happen to hate in het-fic-when the woman (or girl, as is more often the case) is the little innocent being seduced by the "raw sexual power" of the man. If I wanted that bullshit, I'd read some crappy bodice-ripper romance novel. For example, I can't stand all these Landa/OC hetfics where the OC is some girl around 20 - 21 who's "mysteriously attracted and yet repelled" by the Jew Hunter. I mean, please. /:-[

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, yeah. The author might just as well write, "I feel kinda guilty for finding a Nazi hot, so I'm doing this totally not obvious self-insert-thing where my so much prettier than me OC gets to do the Nazi". But the obvious self-insert is one of the many reasons I dislike even good het. Still, I see your point, and I can definitely see why these fics are unbearable even if you like het. I mean, I have absolutely no problem with innocence becoming seduced by male power - if it can make for awesome slash fic, and it can, it can probably also make for awesome het fic ... if it's done well and doesn't wallow in clichés. Then again, it's probably easier to write a good scenario of an innocent man/boy getting seduced by another man without falling into the abyss of clichés, than it is to write the same scenario with a young woman getting seduced by some man. Ah, no idea, I should stop speculating on things I know nothing about.

Very good points, all. I'm even afraid of writing -male- OC's on the chance they end up Sue-ish (Stu-ish? Is it a marty stu if the author is female? Hmmm....)
;_;

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I once wrote a male OC (in the Forgotten Realms fandom), he turned out okay, mainly because there was absolutely no self-insert in him. My main problem with OCs is that I think they're just boring for anyone but the author. ;) But, yeah, I guess even male OCs can turn into Sues, or whatever you want to call it. ;)

The Primeval fandom is HUGE on OCs, and I'm not sure why. Some of them seem to be really well developed and get loaned out to other authors, while some of them I wonder about....
Boring for anyone but the author is a good point. ^^

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't even know why, but several people loved my OC. He wasn't even a well-developed character, and he only appeared in a one-shot anyway. Maybe because the story still focused more on the canon character than on the OC. *shrug*
Forgotten Realms fandom is full of OCs, simply because it's also (or should I say, mainly) the setting of an RPG, so many people post stories about their own RPG characters and adventures. It's annoying when you're looking for fic about the characters from the books.

I just couldn't care less about innocent young women seduced by male power--the whole idea that young women are "innocent" and "untainted"" seems ridiculous to me. I've been thinking about sex since I was 11. My god, I read Henry Miller at that age! I don't think young girls are any different from young boys; they masturbate, they talk dirty, they sometimes play with each other a bit. But it's taboo to talk about young girls doing any of this, while it's considered perfectly natural that boys do all of it. Again, it's that stupid double-standard.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, but there's still a difference between fantasising about stuff and actually doing it. ;) But still, I definitely see your point. And as much as I love older men seducing much younger men, I like to think that the boys are maybe inexperienced, shy and insecure, but still naughty-minded brats. ;)

Yes, Dieterchen insisted that I use his icon for this. ;D

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll see your Dieterchen, and raise you another Dieterchen. ;-)

Oh, I totally agree that there's a big difference between fantasising about something and actually doing it. The problem I have is that it's taboo to actually fantasise about it--i.e., if you write about a 13-year-old girl just wanting to have sex without actually having it, you'll be villified for doing so. Whereas literature is full of 13-year-old boys fantasising about sex. That's what I mean by a double-standard--this assumption that unlike young boys, young girls don't think about sex. Which you and I both know is wholly untrue!

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-02-23 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, well, I suppose you're right. Unlike you, I can't bring myself to care, though, for obvious reasons.

Dieterchen contest! Damn, I'm out of Dieterchens already, my icon space is too full with silliness. But I know that I will always beat you in an icon contest because I have the ultimate CHRISTOPH WALTZ DISAPPROVES icon. Bwahahaaha!
