Picspam: Mark Strong in RocknRolla

I've been promising to do this for ages, but I just didn't get around to doing it any earlier. Here's another epic-sized Mark picspam, with screencaps from RocknRolla. The movie is awesome and definitely worth watching, not just for Mark. Although Mark is definitely the best thing about the movie, as in probably every movie he is in. ;) I especially loved his voice. I mean, I always love his voice, but RocknRolla has the added advantage of Mark's character being the narrator ... :D

Mark as Archy, the biggest BAMF in a movie full of BAMFs. ;)

Disapproving of everyone's bullshit, as usual. :)

You need to be Mark Strong to be badass while wearing baby blue. oO

I think I'm going to be disappointed if I ever see a movie in which Mark does not slap people around. ;) This movie is special, though, because of the famous Archy slap. No explanation possible, you'll have to see it. It works not only on little boys, but also on grown-up men:

Obligatory gratuitous hand-shot. :)

Step one: Archy is shocked.

Step two: Archy is confused.

Step three: Archy is beginning to think that this weird situation might be amusing.

Step four: Archy is laughing about your pain. :)

Occasionally, though, other people (i.e. his boss) yell at Archy.

And Mark looking like a scolded schoolboy is just hilarious.

Another gratuitous "look at his gorgeous hands"-shot.

Mark's badass character humming a song into the microphone. Definitely one of my favourite moments in the movie. :D

Archy: Boss, do I have to make a funny face?
Lenny: Yep.

^^

I simply love Mark's "LOL, you're stupid"-face.

And, best picture last:

I hope I managed to convince at least a few people to (re)watch RocknRolla. :)

I wanted to picspam Body of Lies as well, but I have a really slow internet connection at the moment, and I don't have the patience right now to spend more time staring at my screen and waiting for the pictures to upload. But expect a Body of Lies picspam soon. Here's a little teaser:

Someone posted a link to a really long interview with Mark on the markstrong-comm a while ago, don't know if you've seen it. He basically says that he loves playing villains, because it's pretty much the most interesting thing you can do. And also that he's not really worried about being typecast, because he's already done so many different things in his acting career, and he's confident that he will also do many more different things, so he doesn't mind doing villains for a few years, as long as he enjoys it. I'm not complaining either. ;)

I have no idea, it's really strange. Mark's role is pretty important in that movie. He and DiCaprio's character are way more important than Crowe's, who has a lot less screentime. You should definitely watch Body of Lies asap, it's possibly one of my favourite Mark movies ever. And one of my favourite roles. ^^

I have so many unfinished Blackwood/Coward-fics here, it's not even funny anymore.

Yes, I had read that - it was good! Oh, I do love him as a villain, because he always finds a way to bring a twist to the character so you end up rooting for them, even if the script is the most biased in the world. It's just that - well, I have many thinky thoughts that may go into an actual post some day, about types of actors and acting ability vs. character acting vs. self acting and various combination (omg I apparently have too much time on my hands) - seeing an actor like Mark who has the ability to change so well - gah, Emma! - that it want to see MORE of it! (side note because I almost forgot about it - have you seen Miss Pettigrew?)

Oh, it's downloading tonight! Which means I'll either stay up too late again to watch, or watch tomorrow night. :)

URRRGGGG...don't even say it. My wips folder has well over 100 files, and at least a third are B/C related. FAIL, SELF.

Too much time is good. I love discussions like that. :D And rants. Yep, I have seen Miss Pettigrew. I was surprised that the movie was actually rather entertaining, I expected it to be horrible (like Young Victoria, which was absurdly boring and had not enough Mark). Mark's moustache, oh God. It's really amazing how much he can change. Have you seen the first picture of him as Sinestro? It's gorgeous.

Yay! Can't wait to hear your reaction. ;)

I don't have that many, because I usually think about fics for ages before I even start writing. But even as it is, I have enough unfinished fics here. The rest are ideas rampaging through my head, from thousand different fandoms.

[identity profile] unsettledink.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Except I should be using the too much time to write! I do keep thinking about random stuff like that, but I'm so freaked out about posting non fic stuff... eh, we'll see.

It was a surprise!Mark for me. Oh, it was fluff, but at least it was cute fluff. TALENT, HE HAS BAGS OF IT.

Cannot wait to watch it. Come on, come on, download! (I have a terrible feeling there will once again be no sleep tonight.)

Lol. I bash out a couple hundred words as soon as it pops into my head because I fear I'll lose it. So agreed re:ten thousand fandoms.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I know what you mean. I usually post picspams when I don't have fic to post - at least it's still fandom-related and more interesting than my rambling. ;)

Cute fluff indeed. I loved one review for Miss Pettigrew. It said something like, "yeah, but it's really unrealistic, they're saying that the girl is only with Nick for his money - what nonsense, any woman would want to be with that man." ;D

Sleep ... or Sherlock ... or more Lie to Me ... Sleep is overrated, right?

I hate not finishing fics, and as long as I don't start writing I don't feel obliged to finish them. I'd go mad if I wrote down everything, I think. ;) Also, I usually start hating my ideas as soon as I write them down. It's annoying.

[identity profile] unsettledink.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
I do stupid things like find myself new fandoms. HOLES IN THE HEAD, I HAVE TOO MANY. And...yeah, who would not want to be with him?

Sleep is totally overrated! (right until you fall over in public twitching and muttering about rats. Not that that has ever happened to me...)

I hate not finishing fics, but I always tell myself it will happen eventually... I am a bit astonished I have not been hating my ideas, because I used to all the time. I think it's the kinkmeme, because I know no matter how crazy/inane/stupid it is, somewhere there is a prompt it fills.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Rats are cute. Therefore it is perfectly acceptable to mutter about them in public. Don't worry. ^^

Okay, I should rephrase that. I don't hate the ideas themselves, i usually still like them. But I hate how they usually turn out when I write them down. Somehow they always seem so much less interesting and original when I turn them into actual writing. First I'm like, "omfg I have an amazing new idea!" and then I start writing and I think, "oh, actually this is the same boring shit I already wrote in my five last fanfics."

Saw the new Sherlock episode. I want the slashiness of the first episode back. Stupid bastards. I still love this Sherlock to bits. ^^

[identity profile] unsettledink.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well, at least I could use the excuse that there actually were rats in the room. Pet rats.

Ah, yes. OMG IDEA IDEA! ... Wait. it's the same damn thing. I'm having that happen recently in my sex scenes.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
DAWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
DAWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! Sorry, I just love rats. :D

Yeah. Might be one of the reasons I haven't written a single word in months. I'm boring myself while I'm writing. :(
