Someone posted a few pictures of August Diehl from the Salt premiere in Berlin, over at augustdiehl . For those of you who don't watch the community, I just HAD to share this picture ... because August deserves more love. Now I almost want to watch the movie ... except that I really, really don't like Angelina Jolie. Maybe I should just wait a bit and watch August's scene on youtube or so? Apparently he only has a tiny part anyway.



I saw this and thought ... DIETERCHEN!!!!! Well, Dieterchen after Landa stole his pomade and made him smile by giving him a Bösendorfer Grand Imperial.



Definitely one of the best "bitch please"-faces out there.

Oh, right, I need to say one more thing before I go: watch Le concert. Everyone. You know, that French-Russian movie with Mélanie Laurent. Yes, it's slightly cheesy, but it's more than anything else gorgeous, funny, and heart-warming. And I'm usually not into that kind of movie. Not to mention the beautiful music. I think this movie finally made me love violin as much as I ought to. *hunts down a few violin concertos and sonatas*
Hellstrom approves. So does Heydrich.

You'll be happy to know that I am now torrenting the entire single season of Firefly. Did you get a chance to download and watch Ich Bin Die Andere? It's worth it for naked Gusti, who has a very cute, soft-looking arsch, although it's a rather crazy movie about a woman with multiple personalities and family secrets and MAJOR daddy issues. Of course Gusti falls in love with her. x-D

I' m happy to hear that, yes. ;) I hope you'll find time to watch it soon, it's worth it. I have yet to find a single person who has seen Firefly and did not love it.

As I said in some other comment: downloaded yes, watched no. I doubt that I'll get around to it before next week. Oh, but btw, I finally got around to watching a couple of episodes of Mad Men. I believe you mentioned the show to me once or twice? And another friend of mine also told me how much she loved it. So far ... yeah, I like it, but I'm not sure how interesting it will still be after a while. The main character looking hot and bored and smoking all the time is of course beautiful eye candy, that helps. ;)

Downloaded--now it's just a matter of finding the time to watch it, although I'm pretty darn curious, so it shouldn't be too long from now.

Mad Men is actually the best television show in America right now. If you have an interest in American culture in the 1960s--and all the upheaval that took place--it does have some intelligent and interesting insights to offer, particularly with regard to the changing role of women. Not to mention that it's beautiful to look at--and not just for the gorgeous John Hamm (who is refreshingly relaxed and articulate in real life). The period detail is so precise that the prop mistress shops regularly at vintage stores in and around LA--she even got the keychain for Don's car, which is perhaps overdoing it, but the careful attention does pay off.

I also like the show because I spent four years as an advertising copywriter and loved it, and the show is set during what's generally acknowledged as the golden age of American advertising, and in fact focuses on some very real campaigns of the period. The show is so cleverly done that even the commercials which appear during the broadcast are tied into advertising concepts and history. In fact, there's one campaign that produces its own mini-mad-men adverts set in the same period, with two sixties ad men discussing how best to sell the product. They're clever, but ironically, they're not good advertising, since it took several of the commercials for me to remember what the product was!

I really find the show interesting, exactly because of the period detail (and, yeah, the delicious smoking porn). However, I'm not sure how long I'll stay interested. It's not the kind of show that makes me watch everything there is in just a few days, but more a "one episode a week"-show, I think. ;)

Nope, it's all downloaded, but I'm too sucked (double-entendres, anyone?) into Gusti now that I've finally gotten The Ninth Day.

Mad Men is practically solid smoking porn. Also cocktail porn, especially martinis. But it's especially period detail porn. I couldn't believe that they went to the trouble to get the right keychain for the year and model of Don's car--and you hardly ever see it.

It's definitely a one-episode-a-week show. You need time to absorb and digest each episode. It's not a series that moves at a rapid clip but you will find yourself sucked into it--especially for John Hamm - GUUUUHHHHNNNFFFF!

OhGod, the Ninth Day. Such a disappointment. The script writer ought to be shot. No one cares about that stupid priest, we want to see more of the Gestapo officer who's not just Gusti and therefore hot, but also a much more interesting character. And the shitty plot, argh. But still worth watching, don't worry.

A friend of mine also recommended ReGenesis to me, mainly because of the possible slash pairing in it. Apparently my shipping Lightman/Loker in Lie to Me convinced her that "arrogant genius with an equally genius, but hero-worshipping boytoy he can kick around" is just my kinda thing. I have yet to watch it, though.

I am so behind on my film-watching that it isn't even funny any more. :-(
