I'm writing this comment as I am reading through the story so I apologize if this ends up too long or incoherent.

I love your Robert, right from the beginning. He is just so...Robert-like! The way he barges in on Stannis praying and how physical he is with him. The contrast between the two in personality and in appearance is so good in the first part of the story. The second to last paragraph of the first part, where Stannis imagines the possibility of being sent to squire for one of the great lords/knights is just so heartbreaking and I love how he allows himself to have such fantasies (for the lack of a better word) cause it is so alike a boy of his age, and yet concludes that he ought to be responsible and not dream. Gods, Stannis, poor thing.

...two pairs of blue eyes fixed onto the raging water, already crying as they still tried to convince each other that their parents would somehow make it out of there alive.

This image is beautiful, though so sad.

Ok, I am left without words after the second and the third scene. Just, gods, poor Stannis. Those memories of his parents are so real, you can actually feel his pain and how much he misses them and his childhood that was practically stolen from him with the death of his parents. And all the bitterness already brewing in him. Still, he is so gentle with baby Renly (bb!Renly, why are you so cute, little darling?!) Gorgeous writing.
