I am so proud of myself every time I make someone ship Stannis/Sansa (and same with Stannis/Jon). SanStan just sounds horrifying. Stannis would indeed disapprove. ;)
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. :) This turned out ridiculously long and I'm just glad it worked. And yes, what you say makes absolutely sense. I think with Sansa it's a mixture of relief that he doesn't molest and harass her, and fear that this man she'll have to spend the rest of her life with won't like her. With Stannis it's just the bitterness of a man who can't even imagine anyone loving, let alone desiring him. I feel as sorry for him in this as for her, and it's a good thing we don't get his thoughts because they would have been a pure angst feast of "she'll just hate me anyway". I think it's the main reason I ship them. They've both been hurt in so many different ways, they're both somewhat vulnerable, and they're oddly compatible because the other one is in many regards exacly what each of them needs.
The part about Jon wanting to trade places with her was actually a friend's idea when I talked to her about the fic. It made me laugh so hard that I just had to include it. I can't resist the temptation of Stannis/Jon, ever. Also, Stannis' brooding is like a force of nature. ;)
I think they were both completely surprised that sex could actually be fun. It was almost funny to write in places. ;) Thank you so, so much for reading and commenting and making me grin stupidly and making me feel like all the work I put in this wasn't wasted. :D
