Thank you, I'm glad you liked this! I initially thought that writing Nightingale's POV should be harder, but after I wrote a shot ficlet on tumblr from Peter's POV a few days ago, I've realised that Nightingale's is a thousand times easier to do. ;) And yeah, I do think that he wouldn't expect his feelings to be mutual for a long time, but he wouldn't let that ruin the best thing he's had in decades. Thanks for the comment.
(fgldfg I don't even know where to start? So Henry and Nightingale met at school, Henry being from a family that also had a big tradition of sending their kids there to learn magic. Henry was a bright kid, but not so much book-smart and Nightingale ended up helping him with his Latin (because even though Nightingale didn't really care much about school beyond learning magic and playing rugby, he does seem to have a huge talent for languages and probably picked them up pretty easily), and they mostly bonded over both seriously being into rugby. After which they did the whole sickeningly sweet teenage romance thing as they grew up. ;) (Because nothing will ever convince me that Nightingale is not a romantic at heart, when it comes to relationships.) They stayed together when they joined the Folly, although they usually didn't work together because they weren't that good a team and they also knew they'd just end up worrying more about each other than about their case. Still, attached by the hip in their free time. Henry was always the louder one of the two, more the kind of boisterous sweep-you-off-your-feet-charm than Nightingale's more subtle gentlemanly schtick, and he always stayed very much into rugby and boxing and wrestling and all that stuff. Their relationship was kind of an open secret at the Folly (you know, the kind of thing nobody talks about), and because I want Nightingale to have had nice things in his life, it also stayed incredibly happy for the most part. And because Nightingale can't have too many nice things, Henry died at Ettersberg like just about everyone else Nightingale cared about, yaaaaaaaaay. (He became somewhat reckless right after Henry died, almost actively trying to get himself killed, too, and he was fucking furious when he woke up in hospital and realised that not only had he survived, but he probably wasn't going to get another opportunity to die any time soon. And he was too dutiful, especially once he realised that not many others had survived, to just shoot himself as soon as they let him go home.)
And now I made myself sad. I will stare at your icon and be happy about that now because that description is great and Peter fanboying Nightingale makes me happy.
