OMFG THIS BOOK IS MADE OF FUCKING WIN!!!! Oh GOD!

Okay, I admit it, I only read 100 of the 1300 pages so far, and maybe it's going to suck after 300 pages, because there aren't many authors who can write good books of this length. Far too often it gets boring and repetitive after a few hundred pages. But the beginning is amazing. For those of you who've never heard of it, Les Bienveillantes (English title: The Kindly Ones, which sounds stupid), is the memoirs of a fictitious SS-officier named Maximilien Aue, written by an American author who's writing in French. It's weird to read about Nazis speaking French all the time, honestly. oO Still, Aue is as gay as you can possibly get. 100 pages and already two graphic slash scenes, not to mention this amazing sentence I quoted above (the English translation is by me, I was too lazy to look up how it was really translated). Context? Right after he had some random boy fuck him, his future BFF convinces him to join the SD. Not to mention that his name is Max (like Stierlitz!), he smokes all the fucking time (like Stierlitz, and like Hellstrom!), he's gay and such a sub, and he has a best friend on whom he seems to have a total crush. Well, not crush, but he wants to do him. Not to mention the countless mentions of Heydrich and Schellenberg being suspiciously good friends - this book does not help my recent fascination with historical slash. Bad brain, very very bad! And there I thought it couldn't possibly get worse!
What I really want to say, though, is the following: read this book. I shouldn't, because I really don't have the time, but it's just great so far. At least read the first part, Toccata, which is just great, and only fifty pages long. It's worth the time, even if you don't want to read the entire book. Now let's just hope that I won't be disappointed by the rest.

Other news ... I quit my job, because I'm tired of working on every Saturday, and since I don't desperately need the money, why should I keep doing this? It's a pity, it was a nice job, as far as crappy-jobs-for-students-so-I-can-afford-my-decadent-lifestyle go, with nice colleagues and relatively well paid and not far away from where I live, but still. I want a week-end that consists of two days. Even if it means having a bit less money.

Am also neglecting university stuff. Again. This week is going to be stressful. Which also means that I probably won't post a new fic too soon, but I'll do my best. I'm considering to write some Hellstrom/Wicki, set around 1930, which would be very very angsty and tragic and sweet and beautiful and extremely tragic and sad. With obligatory Landa/Hellstrom-references, mind you. ;)

Ooooh, and I bought the most amazing new leather boots! Rawr! Love them! (I should get Hellstrom out of my head when I go shopping ...)

Worst thing? Nariel and I spent last night talking about that. Sorta crossover verse between Inglourious Basterds, 17 Moments of Spring, Les Bienveillantes and real history. I hope we will never get beyond the rambling stage. ;)

It's a very real, very weird idea Nariel and I came up with. Fairly insane, not to be taken seriously. I have no idea if we will actually be insane enough to write these diaries, but we definitely have loads of ideas. I'm just not sure if they'd be funny for anyone but us. ;)

Maybe I'll work on it when I'm too tired to write serious fic. ;) (Because you need to be tired to come up with the Nazi-equivalent to myspace called myreich ...)

A year ago I invented a world where nazis won WW2 as a retirement home for nazi characters I was no longer using. I now come back to it almost evrey day, because it's no much crack it's hilarious.

I want to write an AU in which the Nazis won WW2, just so I can have Landa&Hellstrom being all adorable ten-fifteen years later ... and because I want to see Standartenführer Hellstrom, all frail and weak and dying of lung cancer. Erm, yes. I occasionally feel the urge to kill him, just so Landa can realise how much he needs him. oO

Mine is a bit weirder, mostly because I happily suspent the laws of reality for that lot. Mine is basically the interesting and occasionally fun adventures of Josef Mengele, Karl Kroenen some made-up nazis and anyone who wants to move in. All are, for one reason or another, immortal, because I love the 'occult nazis' meme, and wander from one world to another blowing shit up and killing anyone they don't like - and hiring those they do.
They came in just after the events of IB, hired Landa and rebuilt Hellstrom (yes, rebuilt, I'm still not sure what they did to the poor guy, but he's fine - so far)

I haven't written this out as a story, mostly because most of friendslist would desert en-mass if I did. I've already lost a few friends over this.

I would love to see that! Feel free to rant to me about it, I loooove nazis-win AUs.

Hellstrom coming back, one way or another, is always good. Landa needs him, or else he's all alone. ;) If you ever write out something, I'd love to read it. And people can be so uptight about this. *sigh* It's fiction like any other, I don't see why people should get all excited about that.

Well, the nazi-win AU is really just the setting I need for Landa and Hellstrom to stay together in Germany, and for Hellstrom to continue his amazing career, and continue happily destroying his health. ;) Somehow that makes it even more tragic than the same thing happening on Nantucket Island (because Landa took Hellstrom with him after the war *nodnod*). (I just want the tragedy in uniforms ...)

Landa's having fun, he's exactly the sort of 'face of respectability' they need right now, and since they need him they're letting him get away with just about anything. I am tempted to write it out, as I said, but there's the added problem that I don't just use fictional characters. Josef Mengele is a pretty central character, and Reinhardt Heydrich makes quite a few appearences.

This sounds very wrong, but I approve of Heydrich appearances in fics. At least if his hands are mentioned. ;)

He does need a hug. It really doesn't help that August Diehl is so incredibly pretty, and often plays really screwed-up, tragic characters you just want to hug and pet. Makes me want to pet Hellstrom, too. No wonder my fanon Hellstrom has soooo many issues. ;)
