Postcards

As you may remember or not, I'm going to Moscow on Sunday and will only return home on March 31st. I don't know yet how often I will have internet access there. Replies to LJ-comments will probably take a bit longer than usual; long e-mails will have to wait for a while. But I'm happy about every e-mail and comment I get, even if I don't reply immediately. :)

Now, the important part: postcards. I love writing postcards, and I know that many people love receiving them. If you want a postcard, just send me a PM with your address (even if I already got your address from my last holidays or something - I'm a bit too lazy to go through all my old messages to find them again ;)). Don't be shy - as long as we talk at least occasionally, I will gladly send you a postcard. If we just friended each other ages ago and never talk anymore, well, then I wouldn't really know what to write to you, I'm afraid.

Now that we've dealt with practical stuff, some more fandom stuff:

- Watched RocknRolla today. This movie is made of awesome. Okay, I can't look at Gerard Butler without thinking "THIS IS SPARTAAAA!!!!", but I still enjoyed the movie a lot. Main reason, no surprise here, Mark Strong. Being awesome. Being badass, cool, violent, funny, and did I mention cool? I love the scene in which he explains how to do the "Archie slap" (his character is named Archie). Where do I have to line up if I want Mark to slap me around as well? ;) Also, I found these lines absurdly sexy: "That's right, sweetheart. You're fucked." His VOICE!!! [insert capslock squealing] Also, there's canon slash (unfortunately not with Mark). Watch the movie. Now.

- Also watched parts of The Mists of Avalon. Parts, because I'm not really interested in it, so I just watched the parts with Hans Matheson as Mordred. HOW CAN THIS ACTOR BE SO UNKNOWN AND UNDERRATED??? HE'S BETTER THAN 90% OF HOLLYWOOD'S SO-CALLED STARS!!! Sorry, had to say that. Since I am utterly predictable, I made caps. If I find the time, I might picspam the movie before I leave. (I know, you're all hoping that I won't find the time to spam you even more.)

- Going to watch Shutter Island with my brother tomorrow, yay!

Concerning fanfics: I know I won't exactly have much time for writing in Moscow. I'll have classes several hours a day, and I'll spend the rest of my time exploring the city. Also, I won't have a room to myself, so I'll hardly have the calm and privacy I need to work on longer stories. However, I want to write something. And since I discovered that writing drabbles is fun and doesn't take too long, I considered doing one of these challenges where you have to write 50 (or 100) drabbles with different prompts. Pairing? Blackwood/Coward, because they need more love. Problem? I can't decide which prompt table to use. I don't like the standard one because it includes useless stuff like several colours, and other prompts that are just plainly annoying. And just assembling my own prompt table from different tables seems like cheating, no? Or should I just do that? Use the prompts I like? Opinions? Recs for tables? Prompts you would like to see written for this pairing? Comments would be much appreciated.








(I shouldn't have done this ... Now nobody's going to remember my rambling, but only Hans' prettiness. ;))

I don't think it's cheating to make your own prompt table, as long as it inspires the creativity! Anyway, maybe 50_darkfics is more to your liking?

Yes, I was thinking just to take one of the prompt tables, and simply replace the prompts I find REALLY stupid. Mhm, I like some of the darkfic prompts, but I don't want to write ONLY drabbles like that. Maybe I will just use some of these prompts in my custom-made "Linn is too stupid for challenges"-table. :D But thanks for the link anyway. *hugs*

No worries about email, I know that you're really busy now (and for the next month... dammit, I'll miss you! but I hope for some interesting posts sooner or later, with all the new impressions! ;)

I'll miss you too! I'll miss all of my awesome internet friends, and LJ in general, and fandom, and I'll be like a junkie suffering from withdrawal. Arrrrrrgh. I really hope I will at least get to check my e-mails every day. :( And yes, expect big posts when I'm back. I bought a nice, big, but light notebook I can carry around all the time. :D Knowing myself, though, I'll write down more fanfic stuff than anything else.
And I wouldn't be so busy today if my brother hadn't talked me into going to the cinema with him tonight. But I think he'll miss me too, so he wants to spend time with me as well. ;)

You and your death fics. :P I should even call my table "custom-made-table for people who, like me, are too stupid for proper prompts". ^^ I'll just see how it goes. Hey, who cares? I think the Blackwood/Coward shippers will just be happy that there's fic.

Yeah, well, of course I only got around to writing seven drabbles or so while I was gone. Even with my custom-made prompt table I lacked inspiration. ;) But I should post these drabbles one of these days. More fluff, yay!

I say make your own prompt list. From personal experience, it's infinitely better than forcing yourself to do a list where you have to do stupid shit. (And all premade lists, no matter how awesome, contain stupid shit. XD) Stupid prompts are normally what keep me from finishing a list.

Anyway, I'll just leave you a bunch of prompts that I've found interesting or useful. Feel free to use any that inspire you :D

These are from a short list I adore, and they all give me lovely B/C ideas. I think I'll write some of them, actually. XD

Awww, thanks for all the awesome prompts! :D I was more thinking of one-word-prompts, I'm afraid that drabbles wouldn't do a bigger quote any justice. But I'll see what I can do. :D Just have to see where my inspiration goes. ;)

I can't even decide what I love more, Mark/Hans or Blackwood/Coward. I guess I love them both equally. :D

Have fun! Russia is one of those places I want to visit one day, but it's soooo far away. (Though I'm going to Japan in May. Russia is a little bit close to Japan, but - and this is almost certainly a cultural quirk of Australia - Japan seems so much closer than Russia.)

In regards to the drabbles, I think, in the sort of conditions you've detailed, drabbles are definitely the best way to go, and you have to write about things you like writing about, or you feel the need to write about, otherwise what's the point? I don't think it's cheating, it's just writing about what inspires you, and not something some little table tells you to write about when you are just not feeling it.

I suppose you're right, yes. It would be stupid to write some crap that doesn't inspire me. But choosing my own prompts kinda defeats the purpose of prompts - then again, writing drabbles is already enough of a challenge without having to write drabbles for stupid prompts. I already assembled a list of roughly 100 prompts I find interesting, I'll see where that goes.

Oh, right, postcard. ^^ Of course you can have one too. I really enjoy writing postcards, and I know how much I love receiving mail, so I always think that postcards are an easy way to make people happy. ;) Just PM me your address and you'll get one. It might take some time, though; I've heard that the Russian post is really slow.
