So, as promised, that Jeffrey Dean Morgan picspam I mentioned earlier. Where does this new obsession come from? Blame it all on Supernatural, the show I only started to watch because the fandom promised brothercest, which is one of my biggest kinks ever. And, god, do I ship Dean/Sam. The unexpected surprise in all of this was their father, though, John Winchester, played by ... exactly, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. And John/Dean (i.e. father/oldest son) hits my kink buttons even harder than Dean/Sam (older/younger brother). But, slash or not, I adore this show. In that trashy, crazy, "it's a silly show about supernatural bullshit" kind of way. Unfortunately Papa Winchester is only around for a ridiculously short time. Why do I always fall for the father figures? I should know by now that they never stick around for long ... (I'm looking at you, Zaknafein Do'Urden!)

Anyway. So, I was suddenly left with Supernatural being still awesome, Jensen Ackles still being possibly the most gorgeous man in the world (Jensen being Dean's actor), but JDM was gone, and I needed my fix of the guy who was less pretty, but a thousand times sexier than his gorgeous sons. So I ended up doing what I always do in these cases - I stalked his other movies. Realised at first that he had played The Comedian in Watchmen (which I had loved back when I first saw it, I just didn't realise that John Winchester was played by the same actor, without the Comedian!stache). Then watched The Losers, The Resident, a few episodes from random shows he's been in, embarrassing romcoms (DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT, F-LIST, I KNOW YOU'VE ALL WATCHED RIDICULOUS SHIT FOR MARK STRONG!!! I know I have) ... yeah, I got it bad. As always, I need to spread the obsession share the love.

Dear f-list, dear people who have always been so supportive of all my crazy obsessions, meet Mr. Morgan.

Yes, he really is that gorgeous. Lemme just spam you quietly for a moment so you can take it all in.

I love his crazy rings and bracelets. I generally love how he doesn't seem to care much what people think of him.

That smile. Yes. It hits me in the face every time.

I think I just realised that he has almost the same eye colour as me. Or maybe that's just this picture.

Watchmen is probably the only of his movies most of you should have seen (and if you haven't, go and see it immediately, it's one of the best movies of the past few years) ... So, first of all, have a bit of the Comedian's violent, maniacal, rape-y hawtness:

Btw, I love this picture:

I wish I could give people that look sometimes ... all the time ...

The only thing I ship in Watchmen (Comedian/Ozymandias), weird enough. I still can't read fic about them, but maybe I just haven't found the good fics yet.

I know I shouldn't find this scene hot (btw, what is it about JDM raping people in his movies?), but there's something about the way he spreads her legs ... God, does that sound fucked up. I will shut up now, okay?

Okay, let's have one of his nicer roles ... In The Losers, he plays the leader of a group of soldiers, very A-Team like. Silly action movie, but tons of fun, ridiculous, but funny dialogue, crazy stunts ...AND it has Jeff running around in a half-open, white (and later on soaking wet) shirt and shoulder holsters, being badass, and, yes, I'm just that shallow.

That fight scene was just hot. I just said that about het. oO

I found this on a tumblr with the comment that JDM looks like a bored tiger on this screenshot ... I couldn't agree more.

Speaking of him being a total BAMF and being cooler than everyone around him: John Winchester. When he finally appeared on the show I really thought, "no surprise Dean is possibly the most likeable, angsty, badass character I've seen in a long time, with a ton of issues ... he's got it all from Daddy!" Yes, John of course also hits my daddy kink. I'm not ashamed.

Father and son. <3 I'm not really involved in Supernatural fandom, but apparently hating John is very in. I don't know what show these people have seen. The John I've seen loves his two sons more than anything else in the world. Fandom,I don't get you sometimes.

Flashback scene, young John with bb!Dean.

John and son #2, Sam.

How am I supposed NOT to ship it? Especially considering how obsessed Dean is with his father, how much he adores, admires, hero-worships him? The way Dean says, "Yes, sir", the way he defends everything his father does, the way his entire life seems to revolve around doing what John tells him to do and gaining his approval .... it has SLASH written all over it. ;)

Please keep doing this forever.

Possessed by a demon.

Totally looks like an evil, cold-hearted bastard, right? /sarcasm

No idea who made this, but it's hilarious. ;)

Then there's of course The Resident. The script sucks. The plot is poor and cliché (woman moves into house, guy stalks her), the characterisation is basically non-existent. With most actors this would have sucked. JDM does the Mark-Strong-thing. The "taking a basically blank character from a shitty script and turning him into a stunning screen presence that's so well acted that you almost forget the script sucks." Now, don't get me wrong. I love JDM, but he's nowhere half as good an actor as Mark is. I mean, WHO is as good an actor as Mark is? But JDM still did amazingly well in this movie, both in the scenes in which he was sweet, caring, gentlemanly, and in the scenes in which he was a fucked-up, crazy, violent, obsessive psycho stalker. Unfortunately the script doesn't really tell us much about his character's background etc.

Also? This entire movie is Jeff porn. I think I kinda missed the movie's point (evil stalker is evil) because I spent 90 minutes thinking that Jeff is downright illegally attractive. It's not just him. It's also the way the camera stays focused on his smile, his hands hovering over the Hilary Swank's body, his muscular arms, his back, his lips when he licks them ... It's like the director WANTED us to be turned on by him. Seriously, it's soft porn. I didn't even make screencaps because I was too busy staring. But I did find a couple of nice gifs, though.

Yes, he's jerking off in a bathtub. The thing I hate most about this movie is that this scene is only, like, 3 seconds long.

I know it looks confusing. He's licking (or rather his beard is caressing) her stomach.

I love her expression. She looks kinda smug. "Yep, I get to make out with Jeff Morgan later, and what are your plans for tonight?"

Did I mention that he has dogs? And is one of those awesome people who apparently never have really, really serious relationships. I rather like it when celebs are not all "happily married for twenty years and three kids". C'mon, there are other ways of leading a happy, fulfilled life than that. ;)

So far I tried to keep some order in this ... but here, some more random pics now:

Harley. He's got two of them. Do I need to say more?

With his Watchmen costars. I love how all three of them look so different from their respective characters (Night Owl II, Rorschach, Comedian).

Right, I didn't mention his tattoos yet ...

That jewellerey, I don't even know.

Riiiight, there was a bunch of suit pictures I wanted to share. Since the guy seems to be dressed casually all the time ("what, I'm on your red carpet wearing jeans and a leather jacket? Oops, should I have dressed up for this?"), it's kinda hard to find pics of him in a suit ... but that's what you've got me for, right?

'cos apparently he hates ties:

Bwahaha, bet you didn't see that one coming. ;)

This is only here because of what the interviewer apparently said to make Jeff laugh this hard: he called 300 a "gay parade that gets out of hand". I think it's hilarious, and very fitting. I somewhere found a picture of Jeff and Gerard Butler, but I don't think I saved it.

Anyone with a fireman!kink around? I don't have one, but this is still hot.

Just laughing forever. I think the women are two of his Watchmen co-stars.

Okay, his hands are nowhere as beautiful as Mark Strong's or August Diehl's, but they're big and nice enough.

Some more silliness ... Jeff with Jared Padalecki, who plays his younger son Sam on Supernatural. I have no idea what Jared did to his face. Spraytan he stole from Tim Wiese maybe? He usually doesn't looke like this...

Yes, i do have a random picture of his mouth. Why?

Can't hear you over the sound of how awesome .... well, you know how it goes.

IDEK. No picspam without a funnyface. And a fashion, or rather sunglasses fail:

Rocking these sunglasses, however:

(I know, they spelt his name wrong. He noticed it, too, there's a bunch of pictures of him holding that thing up and laughing.)

Some things need to be seen again and again:

God, that smile. I am sorry for the size of this picspam. Then again, if you're still reading this, you stuck around for this long, so you probably appreciated the eye candy. I hope I could convert a few people.

I've found those pictures all over the internet. I didn't make any of those gifs myself, I just stole them everywhere. ;)

I felt exactly the same when watching The Resident. SO MISSING THE POINT. It just seems so weird that she'd ever reject him. ;)

Torrenting The Resident RIGHT NOW. I love films that fuck with my head by getting me all turned on by what ought to be a despicable stalker/rapist.

OMG The Comedian!!! That was JDM??? I see it now, but I wasn't aware of it when I first saw the movie.

And I changed my mind about the beard. This man MUST have facial hair. He's just not as good looking without it. He also needs better parts so he isn't treated like a second-string Bardem.

JDM in The Resident was kinda like Mark Strong in Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day. I was all like, "why is that stupid girl not ALL OVER HIM????"
The script of The Resident sucks so much, but he still makes the most of it.So, go download and watch and then tell me about it, ok? :)

OMG The Comedian!!! That was JDM??? I see it now, but I wasn't aware of it when I first saw the movie.
Same here. But then again I didn't even know JDM when I first saw Watchmen. He was so great as Comedian. Probably his best role so far. That and John Winchester, but that's just because I'm crazy about John. ;)

Told you about the beard! He has a huge chin, which is okay when he has a beard (or at least some stubble), but when he's clean-shaven ... it's just huge.

He also needs better parts so he isn't treated like a second-string Bardem.
So true. I mean, JDM isn't the best actor ever, but he is good enough to get better roles than most of what he's done so far. I do hope that The Losers gets a sequel, though, he was so badass in that one. ^^

BTW, after viewing this post I watched Watchmen again. I forgot how good that film was. So good, in fact, that I've since torrented Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut, considered the very best of all.

There's another version of Watchmen? Does it have more JDM? ;) Huh, gotta find it anyway. I think Watchmen is one of my favourite movies ever, if only because it refuses to be all black and white, good vs. evil.

I believe it does have more JDM, from what I've been told. More backstory and more about the relationship There are actually three different versions of the film: the initial DVD release, the Director's Cut and the Ultimate Cut. Of the three, the Ultimate Cut is obviously the one to torrent!

What I liked best about Watchmen was the fact that the story was interwoven with American history to a certain extent, especially since superheroes in American culture always reflect the era in which they're created. Superman was created by two Jewish boys during Hitler's rise to power, for example. I always wondered if they ever saw the Saturday Night Live skit entitled, "What if Superman had been born in Germany?" My favorite part of that skit, after Superman reveals the undercover Jew by using his x-ray vision, was the newspaper headline that read, "Superman kills every person in Great Britain."

You got me at "more JDM". Btw, speaking of JDM, as I do a lot at the moment, I saw a bunch of interviews yesterday and realised that on top of being hot and apparently a really nice guy (heard that before from fans who met him), he's also an adorable dork with tons of humour. Even more love now. ;)

True, and I really liked their alternate version of American history. But, still, what fascinated me most were the moral ambiguities. I'm bored by stories in which the good guys defeat the evil guys, and the moral dilemma may amount to one of the good guys having to lie to his BFF, OMFG HOW HORRIBLE, or similar stuff. I love it when stories fuck with people's sense of what is right and wrong.

"What if Superman had been born in Germany?"
Heh, that reminds me, I also thought it was a nice touch that Veidt in Watchmen, or at least his family, was from Germany. For some reason I thought it was a really nice touch. And his two accents in the movie make me happy. ;)

That doesn't surprise me at all about JDM. He looks like a relaxed, good-humoured gent. After watching Watchmen again, I realized why it's difficult for you to see the resemblance between JDM & Javier Bardem. Because it exists only in still photos; the men are entirely different onscreen, and there's no resemblance between them on film whatsoever.

Now if there were just some way to add Kroenen to Watchmen, maybe as a leader of Super-Zombie Heydrich's personal SS Battalion, the film would be perfect. ;-D

I would also be happy for Kroenen to battle Superman with a handheld rocket launcher, firing large chunks of Kryptonite at him.

Yes, I loved the German in Veidt, too--especially since there are some German expressionist touches in the lighting and set decor of the film. I often wonder if Conrad Veidt's offspring are aware of how often he's had tributes paid to him, not only for Das Kabinett des Doktor Caligari but also for Casablanca. :-D

I don't know. I don't think I've ever seen Javier Bardem in a movie ... so I've only seen pictures, and I still don't see the resemblance. oO Yeah, JDM is hilarious. Sometimes I wish that actors I crush on turn out to be boring, or total assholes, but for some reason all those men I find ridiculously attractive on screen are also charming, funny and sweet in interviews. It's weird.

Zombie!Heydrich ... My brain is hurting ... Heydrich is more the vampire type, though, I can't see him as a zombie.

I generally love Veidt, and I love how the character also plays a bit with clichés about Germans. I'm looking for some good fanfic right now, because rewatching the movie recently made me even more aware of the huge amount of Comedian/Ozymandias slash potential, but so far I haven't found all that much. Some good porn, but I want more than that.

Date: 2011-03-10 02:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com
I'd add to the JDM/JB discussion that I think JDM is a much nicer person than JB. :-)

You're absolutely right. Heydrich is indeed the vampire type with that pale skin and long nose. Forgive my error! Thinking about this only makes me want to write Heydrich-as-vampire slash, with Reini paying a little night visit to Schellchen...

I don't get the Comedian/Ozymandias pairing except in a purely BDSM context. I want the Comedian to top the hell out of Oxymandias. But then I wouldn't mind seeing the Comedian top the hell out of anybody. ;-D

Date: 2011-03-11 01:12 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
Why, is Bardem not a nice person? I think I know really nothing about him ... I couldn't name a single movie he's been in.

Oh God, spare me horrible vampire!AUs. I'm kinda traumatised, I guess, because Supernatural fandom is full of those. I guess it makes sense, considering that it's a universe where vampires actually exist, but it's still annoying as hell to find so many fics about character A as vampire seducing character B and bullshit like that.

You don't get Comedian/Ozymandias? Oh, c'mon, you can't be serious! The obvious clash of their different worldviews, both starting from the same point of view that humans are savage in nature and will always try to kill each other, but leading to completely different conclusions. The fact that it was the Comedian who found out about Ozymandias' plan. Ozymandias not only killing the Comedian in person instead of sending someone else to do the job, but even allowing the Comedian to go out in a fight instead of just killing him quickly. The look of regret on Ozymandias' face when he talks about the Comedian later.

... I'm rambling. But, seriously? It's a subtle thing, but it's there. And it makes for a fascinating pairing.

From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com
I'd seen Bardem in several Spanish and Mexican films before he appeared in No Country for Old Men , and he's quite a good actor. But I do find him rather more arrogant in interviews than JDM, who is much more relaxed by comparison.

I'm not so much into the Vampire seducing bit as I am into the Vampire slowly consuming the life from someone, which in a sense I can see happening to Schellchen after his beloved Heydrich died. You see photos of Schellchen at Nuremberg and he looks so much harder and less boyish than he did before. I don't think he ever got over that loss, just as Wölffchen never got over the loss of Himmler. You see photos of Wölffchen as an old man, and he just looks so lost and confused.

Ah, excellent point, that look of regret in Ozymandias' face when he talks about the Comedian later--I had overlooked that moment, and I remember being struck by it in the film. That single moment is indeed subtle, but it does suggest a fascinating pairing. I can definitely see it now. ;-)

Riiight, he was in No Country for Old Men. No surprise that I don't remember him, because I don't really remember the entire movie. oO
Yeah, JDM seems to be the complete opposite of arrogant. He's especially adorable when female interviewers hit on him, or when he's asked what he thinks about all those women drooling at him ... he just seems so genuinely embarrassed and even flattered.

Interesting comparison, I never saw it that way before. And add to that the fact that Heydrich was probably the only person who was able to kick Schellchen's ass when it came to his health issues. One of the main reasons why Schellenberg died so young was that he was terrified of surgery and kept pushing it off. If Heydrich had been alive ... you know what would have happened. He would have ordered Schellenberg to suck it up.

I can definitely see it now. ;-)
You're just saying that to make me shut up. ;) What actually fascinates me even more than Ozymandias' regret - he generally regrets that he had to kill so many people - is that flashback scene to the first meeting of the new Watchmen. That conversation between Ozymandias and the Comedian, with Ozymandias explaining how the world needs saving and the Comedian mocking him for believing that humanity CAN be saved. "It doesn't take a genius to see the world has problems" - "No, but it takes a room full of morons to think they're small enough for you to solve." It shows how close they actually are in their worldview. They just react differently. Also, I don't think there are many people that Ozymandias would even bother arguing with.

Speaking of slash ... I just came back from seeing The Eagle. I only watched it for Mark Strong (who, unfortunately, has only two scenes and a rather unremarkable role - although I was still impressed that he managed to express all his character's regret and guilt and pain in a tiny furrowing of his brow, a somehow even more impressive feat considering that he has a HUGE beard that covers most of his facial expressions). The movie is really entertaining in this trashy, silly way, and it's so slashy it can't possibly be accidental. It's like a big gay love story. It's awesome if you wanna switch off your brain for two hours and laugh a little.

You and your cameo-appearance Mark Strong films. ;-D Someone ought to upload a compilation of all those scenes for you. Who knows? It might actually make a stunning film on its own.

I'll forgive you for not remembering one of the Coen Bros.' best films. I frankly hate it when they do comedy, although I did like Fargo, because it's Comedie Noir. But No Country for Old Men is such a brilliant addition to the Film Noir canon, even with Bardem's inexplicable seventies haircut. And Film Noir is my favorite "genre" (it's really considered more of a style.)

That doesn't surpise me at all about Schellchen. The man always looked so frail and tiny. I'm sure that's why there are no photos of him standing next to Heydrich. Just that lovely photo of him gazing wistfully at his Lord and Master.

I haven't yet watched the Watchmen Ultimate Cut, but now you've got me wondering if there isn't more interaction between Ozymandias and the Comedian. I'll have to watch it soon to find out.

How is Nari? Is she still lost in rural Bavaria? How's she doing? Let me know, and tell her I said hello the next time you speak to her.

The things I watch for Mark Strong. Or for JDM, for that matter. Fucking romcoms. I HATE romcoms. Although JDM is at least a guy that makes me understand why the stupid main character falls for him. Anyway, at least The Eagle gave me more slash than my brain could handle.

I'm not sure I've seen all that many of their films. Though I did like True Grit. No Country for Old Men ... I really can't say anything about it, because I don't remember anything. That sometimes happens to me, usually with books, though.

gazing wistfully at his Lord and Master.
Very fitting Schellchen description. ^^

I haven't watched the Ultimate Cut either, but I downloaded it and skipped a bit through it. It appears that there's a cartoon storyline that's completely lacking in the movie. No idea if there's also more Comedian/Ozymandias, though. I hope so.

Yeah, Nari is still in Würzburg. Not too happy about it, but I think she's okay, whining or not. ;) I'll say hi when I talk to her tomorrow.

More slash than Linnie can handle is more than enough reason to see the film.

The Coen Bros. breakthrough film was Blood Simple, a rather striking latter-day Film Noir. They've also made Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, O, Brother Where are Thou? and A Serious Man, among others. I've only listed the films I like in addition to Fargo and No Country for Old Men.

Very fitting Schellchen description. ^^
Why, thank you! We aim to please. ;-)

I didn't know she was in Würzburg! I wonder if she had a chance to see the filming of the new Three Musketeers movie, with Christoph as Cardinal Richelieu? That would have been a rather diversion, I would think?

It wasn't the slashiest movie ever as far as innuendos go, but just the complete absence of female characters and the fact that the two guys stay together at the end of the movie, smiling at each other ... it's just way more obviously slashy than the usual, "hero goes off with pretty girl, while his BFF is happy for him".

I thought you knew, since you knew she was in Bavaria? (Blabla, yes, Würzburg is actually Franken and not Bavaria, but it's the South, who cares.) She didn't see the filming, agaik, I think she didn't have the time because of her classes.

Hey, any slash is good, in my opinion. ;-D

*Laughing uproariously*

Also, I learned a great new German neologism from a friend: Leopardenjackentrauma. Heard in response to Christoph Waltz's jacket on the cover of this month's German GQ Style, it refers to the horrified reaction one has to others' ill-informed ideas of high fashion, which my friend and one of her coworkers often feel in response to the wardrobe choices of some of the others in their office.

God, I love the German language...

I believe my friend and her coworker actually coined Leopardenjackentrauma. Which is why I love the German language, because you can work such magic with it. :-D This neologism needs to spread across the German-speaking world.
