I'm so mainstream

I needed a way to spend the afternoon with procrastination (rather than write my fics for

asoiaf_exchange, or write those kink meme fics I want to write (whaaaat, part of me really wants to write graphic Melisandre/Stannis rape fic), or write some more about young Stannis and bb!Renly, or get started on my huge Stannis appreciation post for

game_thrones), so I finally, a hundred years after everyone else, got a tumblr account. I have no fucking clue what to do with it, tbh. Mostly I created the account so I could follow other blogs more easily, but not that I have it, I feel like I should use it. But somehow tumblr feels so ... self-indulging to me. Like you're talking to yourself. And posting to yourself. Even more so than LJ. I just feel silly posting rants there (because I've got LJ for that), or pictures that everyone has already seen anyway.

But, question to you, dear f-list, do you guys have any tumblrs I should follow? Or can you rec any tumblrs that may be relevant to my interests? So my tumblr account can stop looking so sad and lonely and empty? It's like a Stannis account, all alone with no friends. In case anyone cares, my username over there is the same as here. Btw, I'm sure everyone has seen it by now, but the Game of Thrones comment on the newest Castle episode was just wonderful. I love this show so much.

And I already got started a bit on my appreciation post by looking for quotes, and there's this wonderful passage in ASOS that sounds suspiciously like Tywin having a tiny little fanboy moment about Stannis. It makes me happy.
“You are aware that Lord Varys has sent fishermen into the waters around Dragonstone. They report that only a token force remains to defend the island. The Lyseni are gone from the bay, and the great part of Lord Stannis’s strength with them.”
“Well and good,” announced Pycelle. “Let Stannis rot in Lys, I say. We are well rid of the man and his ambitions.”
“Did you turn into an utter fool when Tyrion shaved your beard? This is Stannis Baratheon. The man will fight to the bitter end and then some. If he is gone, it can only mean he intends to resume the war."

But I realised that it's the Bastard of Nightsong Stannis left on Dragonstone ... Somehow I assumed before that he was with Edric Storm, but he isn't, he's on Dragonstone. And if the Lannisters&Tyrells took Dragonstone, does that mean he's dead? :( There was no mention of him in the books, and I don't think anyone cares because he's a minor character with nothing to him but an epic nickname ... but that alone makes me want him to survive. He's the BASTARD OF NIGHTSONG, FFS, and a king's man ... Of course he needs to survive. :( Also, I love how Stannis judges people (well, men at least, not women) on their personality and their deeds, not their parents. His BFF is a smuggler, he leaves a bastard to defend Dragonstone because he apparently trusts him ... Oh, Stannis. <3 I think I need a Stannis tag.

I'm now following you on tumblr! :D (My username is swallowedkeys - I'm sure you could have guessed it was me from all the Theon meta. Haha.) As for other Tumblrs I'd recommend, I'll have to think about that. The firsst thing which springs to mind is lannisterblonde because tehehe GOT comic. I think a lot of the GOT tumblrs I follow are a bit Theon-centric though. Hmm.

I am so pleased that Tywin has a decent estimate of Stannis' ability and willpower. Your favourites ought to respect each other. (:

Exactly. Tywin is too smart not to take Stannis seriously. Again, two characters who should have met in canon.

I don't have my ADWD here, I borrowed it to a friend. I just had a look at the character list in AFFC, which is where I saw that he is the one holding Dragonstone for Stannis. Not like it's all that important, I just like people with cool nicknames. Nobody will keep me from liking Darkstar either. ;)

The thing is that if I posted stuff like that on LJ I'd have no audience but, on Tumblr, I get anyone who tracks any of the tags I use in addition to my handful of followers. (:

It says a lot that characters who're known to be politically savvy believe Stannis is a threat and don't just dismiss him.

Just checked my copy of ADWD and HE'S ALIVE. Buuut, apparently he's not holding Dragonstone anymore. He's listed underneath Bruce Caron and it says: "-- his baseborn half-brother, SER ROLLAND STORM, called THE BASTARD OF NIGHTSONG, pretender Lord of Night-song," Curious! I don't have a problem with Darkstar either. He intrigues me.

Exactly. Stannis and Tywin would have been an unbeatable team if they had been, you know, a team. It's a good thing Stannis found out Joffrey was illegitimate, or else he would have made the Lannisters even stronger.

I'm curious to see if he shows up again. Maybe he was taken prisoner. I doubt that he escaped, Stannis would hardly leave someone in charge who would run at the first sign of danger.
I don't know why Darkstar gets the hate. He failed to kill Myrcella, okay, but it's not like that was easy on panicked horses.

They would've been pretty much unstoppable, wouldn't they? I wonder how Tywin would have reacted if Stannis had approached him and said "your boy king is illegitimate". I've a feeling it would have ended badly.

I'm curious to see where he shows up again. I assume it'd tell us if he was a captive - I think it often does. Maybe he was captured then the Lannisters/Tyrells decided to grant him at Nightsong as long as he promised to back them up? Who knowss.
Wait, is Darkstar hated because he failed to kill Myrcella or because he tried to? I figure you'd get more hate for attempting to kill an innocent kid than for failing to manage it. \\: I'm just curious to know more of his backstory - then I'll decide how I feel about him.

Stannis is smart enough not to go on his own to confront Tywin. ;) Also, I'm fairly sure Tywin knew and chose to ignore it. I doubt that someone as smart as Tywin didn't know.

I'm not sure he will ever be mentioned again, he'S such a minor character. *sigh*
From what I've seen, people just think he's pathetic because everyone in canon talks about how awesome he is, but the only thing we've ever seen him do is try to kill a little girl and he didn't even manage to do that, so he can't be that badass. Which is utterly dumb reasoning, imo.

I imagine that Tywin knew about the incest babies, too, but I don't think he could let it stand if someone confronted him about it.

You never know with GRRM. The line of succession of House Caron of Night-song might alter the entire politcal landscape of Westeros. XD
Oh, that's weird. \: I mean, I might think "why did they even introduce this character and build him up..." but I wouldn't hate him for not living up to his reputation. PEOPLE ARE WEIRD.

The Bastard of Nightsong is the prince that was promised, duh. Nah, tbh I just want him on Stannis' Kingsguard one day.
I don't think people hate him, they just think he's ridiculous. I think it's one of these fandom things that just took on a life of their own. Somebody pointed out a tiny detail in canon and it went on from there.

The blogs on my dash is giving me such a warped (?) look into shows I don't watch xD Supernatural is really about a love triangle between Dean, Sam and Cas. I'm not sure who the bloke Crowley is seeing is. But they are hilarious. Cas is God, the metatron and an angel, all at the same time. Death is awesome and "Yesterday was Tuesday, and today is Tuesday, too".

Nonsense. Supernatural is about the epic love story between Dean and his father. No, wait, that's only in season 1, dammit. But basically what you say is true, and it's awesome, and epic, and hilarious. It's not a show to be taken seriously, but it's so very entertaining.

** sigh ** Everyone is getting a tumblr. I am so lazy - I like LJ because I mostly post my own thoughts when I have no-one in RL to discuss them with. Tumblr is so not suited for that, But I think I will make one this week just so that I can follow .

I understand, I didn't really want to get one either. I prefer LJ because it's more suited to what I like to do (i.e. writing and rambling and discussing). But there are many tumblrs I like, for all the pretty pictures, and following them like this is so much easier than checking a bunch of tumblrs every day.

Some accounts I would recommend are: fuckyeahgotcast, jon-ho (Don't ask, just follow), georgerrmartingerbil, asofai, textsfromwesteros, aaaand that is about it for 'communities'. I have a few others, but those are mostly Tyrell ones, because in addition to being addicted to Tumblr, I am also addicted to the Tyrell family. I also have some non-community Tumblr accounts I could recommend, that post cool meta's and graphic posts that involve ASOIAF.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same happened to me. Tumblr definitely looks like fun. Following you back,yay! And thanks for the recs, I'll have a look at those. I'm all for metas and graphics and pictures and everything else. ;) Tbh, I'm not a huge Tyrell fan (I like them alright, but I don't love them), but that's probably just my slightly narrow BARATHEEEEOOOOONS perspective. ;)

I like some of the older Lannisters (Tywin, Kevin and Gemma FTW, I love all three of them so much), but Tywin's kids just make me want to go on a killing spree. ;) I'm mostly a Baratheon person with a soft spot for some Starks. 'cos Stannis/Sansa must rule the kingdoms. ^^

I adore Jaime Lannister. He's got wit, he's got a bit of honour (he's not a rapist or a psychotic killer, at least), and he's SMART. He probably had one of the best ideas at the end of A Feast for Crows. I wish he actually went through with the plan... And Sansa is the only Stark I like/find interesting. Although I'd like to see some female domination go on with Margaery and Sansa headin' the Kingdom ;D

Anyways! Some good personal Tumblrs are: misscherribomb (mostly silly ASOIAF posts, but she's a sweetheart and sometimes posts graphis and gifs she's made), the-wolf-queen (she a) runs the ASOIAF Tumblr RP I am a member of and b) is a big Robb Stark fan. So if you like the Starks you'll like her), Pympin (another ASOIAF fan. Mostly reblogs, but she's a lot of fun), martinusmiraculorum (Meta-man! He does a lot of ASOIAF discussions and has a lot of interesting views on the characters), kissed-by-ice (makes AFOIAS graphics and also shares in my love of the idea of Mark Strong being Stannis), leontina (again, mostly reblogs, but she also sometimes makes graphics), and finally housetyrell (she posts graphics and occasional drabbles/fanfictions)

I'm deborahlazaroff on tumblr. There's a fuck yeah...for just about everyone and everything, including fuckyeahAugustDiehl and fuckyeahgayNazis (my favorite). There are also several very good Reich-era photo tumblrs (fraulein-feldgrau and fallschirmjager) that I follow, and some good art and music ones as well. I tend to follow mostly image and gif tumblrs, as well as political ones, and I repost a lot.

Your tumblr background is terrifying. oO Yeah, I love those fuckyeah tumblrs (I generally love tumblr, I just never felt the need to get one until now). It's only sad when they get abandoned.
