Picspam: Mark Strong in Body of Lies

This really deserves the word 'spam' by now, doesn't it? I'm sorry, I've been meaning to post these caps with the ones yesterday, but this incredibly slow internet connection is driving me insane. Today's spam material: Body of Lies. Again, awesome movie. I have to admit that I really like Leonardo DiCaprio sometimes, even if I paid much more attention to Mark in this movie than to him. ;) Mark is just incredible - I never knew English with an Arabic accent could sound sexy. It can. I absolutely love the characters Mark chooses to play, and in this movie he isn't even a real bad guy. Not a very nice guy at times, but definitely not the big villain. Anyway, pictures say more than my rambling, let Mark convince you to watch the movie. :)
Hani Salaam, head of the Jordanian secret service. Notice surprise!DiCaprio in the background. He will return later in the picspam.
I love the beard. And the hair. And his clothes.
And his smile/laugh.
And ... okay, I love everything about this man.
He also pulls off a great WTF-face in this movie. Repeatedly.
Did I mention that he smokes in this movie?
I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist spamming you with these few seconds.
My brain cannot handle so much sexy in one picture. Guh.
Watching someone getting whipped and not giving a shit.
It's not that Hani Salaam is too clumsy to close his cufflinks. He just thinks it's more practical to let his wife do it. ;)
Hand. All I'm saying.
I really love his style. DiCaprio in that outfit just makes Mark look even better. ;)
He's classy even when sprawling. oO

This picture is kinda pointless, it's just here because I love it when Mark slaps people around. ;) Especially when he looks so wonderfully angry while doing it:

Smoking should not be so incredibly sexy:

He's obviously thinking what every sane person would be thinking: "OHMYGOD I want to jump him and I need to concentrate to control myself!" Btw, did I mention that I ship them?

This picture is, imo, a perfect example of UST.

No Mark picspam without at least one funny face.

Creepy.

I don't think anyone is still surprised by the amount of hand-shots in my picspams.

We're almost done. Have some more hand and smoking porn:

He's looking at DiCaprio's character. How could I NOT ship them?

He looks like he's trying not to laugh. ;)

Somehow this picspam turned out to be longer than intended ... It's Mark's fault, not mine. ;) Btw, does anyone know if there's fic for these two? Or does anyone want to write some? ;)
There will certainly be more picspams, I just don't know when. I still need to post the Hans Matheson caps from The Mists of Avalon.

Date: 2010-03-14 08:05 pm (UTC)I usually don't like Arabic accents at all, but Mark pulls it off so beautifully. You DEFINITELY need to watch this movie! :D

Date: 2010-03-15 07:48 pm (UTC)Mark's accent is A++ and he looks badass with tan skin ;)

Date: 2010-03-15 08:34 pm (UTC)That and the stubble! :D And his accent is insanely sexy.

Date: 2010-03-15 08:47 pm (UTC)And don't forget his ring. XD
no subject
Date: 2010-03-15 08:50 pm (UTC)Oh, yesss, the ring. And the commanding gesture when he goes like, "ey, wife, close my cufflinks!" I laughed so hard.

Date: 2010-03-15 09:07 pm (UTC)Lol I really like his demeanor in this movie. Glad he played an important role here. Anyway that scene when he showed Ferris how he punished the prisoner creeps me out ;D

Date: 2010-03-15 09:17 pm (UTC)I'm so glad he got an important role, and that he got to be something else than the villain. Sure, he wasn't always a nice guy, but he wasn't THE bad guy of the movie. He definitely had his creepy moments, but I love this mixture of charisma, charm, manners on the one hand, and cold, ruthless intelligence on the other. And Roger was obviously attracted by that as well.

Date: 2010-03-18 08:37 pm (UTC)just fuck and get it over with
Lol very true
I've browsed ff.net but no fic at all! Baaawwww why is this movie so underrated?
He's well balanced, wasn't he? I just love it when he played "grey" character ;) Lol apparently young men are almost always attracted to raw power
no subject
Date: 2010-03-19 08:34 am (UTC)Who wouldn't be attracted to raw power in the form of Mark Strong? And in this case Roger didn't even have to feel too bad about it, because, well, it's not like Hani is a real bad guy, so drooling at him is okay. :D
no subject
Date: 2010-03-21 12:48 pm (UTC)But probably Roger would feel bad about having further relationship with him since Hani already has a wife (and children) :'D
no subject
Date: 2010-03-21 07:46 pm (UTC)Pfff, having a family doesn't keep Hani from flirting (and probably sleeping) with blonde European women (like the one in the bar), so why should it keep him from sleeping with American men? ;) As if Roger could resist when Hani seduces him.

Date: 2010-03-23 07:48 am (UTC)Ah that blonde women! Totally forgot about her... And of course Roger could not resist at all ;)
no subject
Date: 2010-03-23 12:27 pm (UTC)Exactly, she's just in there to demonstrate how open-minded Hani is. ;) I want fiiiiiic! *whine*

Date: 2010-03-23 07:23 pm (UTC)Pffft I just love how you use the word open-minded here *laughs*
no subject
Date: 2010-03-24 07:16 pm (UTC)It's the kind of open-minded that matters. :D
I've found one
Date: 2010-05-27 12:34 am (UTC)Anyway, it's Hani/Roger with Roger/Aisha mentioned, but it's more of a tease (only 260 words).
The story takes place after the movie and is called "The Future" by fairlyironic.
It can be found at http://archiveofourown.org/works/49157 or http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4638768/1/The_Future.

Date: 2010-05-27 12:24 pm (UTC)I've just discovered the fandom. "Body of Lies" was on TV and I came in right during a Hani/Roger scene. I found "The Future" on ff.net and then a few days later I bought the DVD. ;) I just keep watching their scenes together over and over.
I can't believe there aren't more fics about those two.
I tried writing a Hani/Roger-fic, but my muse just wouldn't co-operate so I put it away, until a later time.

Re: I've found one
Date: 2010-05-27 02:16 pm (UTC)Well, it's not like there really is a fandom for this movie. I watched Body of Lies because I'm currently watching pretty much anything Mark Strong has ever been in, and BoL is definitely one of my favourites so far. It really surprises me that there's virtually no fic, with that one tiny exception.
Maybe you should try again, sometimes it just takes time for a fic to be written. ^^

Date: 2010-05-27 04:20 pm (UTC)Don't know when it's gonna be out, though. ;)
Re: I've found one
Date: 2010-05-27 08:43 pm (UTC)New Fic
Date: 2010-07-23 05:30 pm (UTC)Don't know if you've seen it yet, but there's another Hani/Ferris-fic on ff.net. It was published less than a month ago.
It's a Christmas-one shot and has cigar-porn and desk-sex.
The story is called "Christmas Spirit" by Serpentsign.

Date: 2010-07-06 05:55 pm (UTC)Hoffman and Hani both seem very cavalier about the possibility of Ferris dying. Hoffman with his "Oops" and Hani laughingly replying "I shudder to think" when Ferris asks what if he had arrived a few minutes later.
But there is a big difference. Hoffman is so far removed geographically and mentally, Ferris can become just a statistic to him if he dies. Hani, however, is in the field, so to speak, like Ferris, and when he sees Ferris' poor broken body after his torture, he may look at him dispassionately, but he knows, HE KNOWS...he put him there... and so the affectionate visit in the hospital.
Hani and Ferris both have honor; Hoffman does not.
The deleted scene with Hani seeing Ferris in the marketplace and offering for him to take the credit for Al-Saleem's capture is very revealing, I think. It softens Hani's character for me. Instead of having his almost last line be the cold "That was the plan, my dear," he wants Ferris to get the recognition and even wants him to work with him in Jordan. Making up for what he put him through perhaps? And also because he really cares for him and is letting it show.
By taking that scene out, I think Ridley was showing that both Hani and Hoffman were just flip sides of the same cold, calculating coin.
