This really deserves the word 'spam' by now, doesn't it? I'm sorry, I've been meaning to post these caps with the ones yesterday, but this incredibly slow internet connection is driving me insane. Today's spam material: Body of Lies. Again, awesome movie. I have to admit that I really like Leonardo DiCaprio sometimes, even if I paid much more attention to Mark in this movie than to him. ;) Mark is just incredible - I never knew English with an Arabic accent could sound sexy. It can. I absolutely love the characters Mark chooses to play, and in this movie he isn't even a real bad guy. Not a very nice guy at times, but definitely not the big villain. Anyway, pictures say more than my rambling, let Mark convince you to watch the movie. :)

Hani Salaam, head of the Jordanian secret service. Notice surprise!DiCaprio in the background. He will return later in the picspam.

I love the beard. And the hair. And his clothes.

And his smile/laugh.

And ... okay, I love everything about this man.

He also pulls off a great WTF-face in this movie. Repeatedly.

Did I mention that he smokes in this movie?

I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist spamming you with these few seconds.

My brain cannot handle so much sexy in one picture. Guh.

Watching someone getting whipped and not giving a shit.

It's not that Hani Salaam is too clumsy to close his cufflinks. He just thinks it's more practical to let his wife do it. ;)

Hand. All I'm saying.

I really love his style. DiCaprio in that outfit just makes Mark look even better. ;)

He's classy even when sprawling. oO

This picture is kinda pointless, it's just here because I love it when Mark slaps people around. ;) Especially when he looks so wonderfully angry while doing it:

Smoking should not be so incredibly sexy:

He's obviously thinking what every sane person would be thinking: "OHMYGOD I want to jump him and I need to concentrate to control myself!" Btw, did I mention that I ship them?

This picture is, imo, a perfect example of UST.

No Mark picspam without at least one funny face.

Creepy.

I don't think anyone is still surprised by the amount of hand-shots in my picspams.

We're almost done. Have some more hand and smoking porn:

He's looking at DiCaprio's character. How could I NOT ship them?

He looks like he's trying not to laugh. ;)

Somehow this picspam turned out to be longer than intended ... It's Mark's fault, not mine. ;) Btw, does anyone know if there's fic for these two? Or does anyone want to write some? ;)

There will certainly be more picspams, I just don't know when. I still need to post the Hans Matheson caps from The Mists of Avalon.

To my dismay, The Long Firm is available only in European DVD format. I cannot find a version to play on my Amercian DVD player [sigh]. I have, however, been able to weatch most of it (little by little) on YouTube. For some reason, thought, the first installment is missing. If anyone knows how I can get a version to play in the States, I'd appreciate it.

I hate movies with torture (any kind of torture) but my attraction to Mark is making me sit through a lot or torture scenes I would not have watched voluntarily. The Long Firm is one of those. I cannot believe you actually see him stick a hot poker down more than one poor guy's throat. Yet...I love, love love Harry and find him extremely sexy. Mark is absolutely brilliant in that one. Why he did not become a MAJOR star after that BBC series is quite beyond me.

I find him courtly and absolutely charming in that he worries what his mother will think ( 'My mum's still alive!") Gosh, I love him, am frightened of him, and want to cuddle him all at the same time. When he turns and winks at Jimmy right after his sentencing.... I mean, the man just could not get any sexier.

I also loved him as Archie. I am now watching the director's commentary on the DVD. He and Mark Ritchie are just having a friendly chat as the movie rolls. It feels like I am actually in Mark's company when he is being light and breezy as himself. Simply charming.

Has anyone seen that? Guy and Mark actually make reference to Madanna without using her name. You can tell from Guy's brief remarks that THAT marriage is just about over, and Mark's are funny.

He calls her Guy's "Mrs." LOL

OH, I forgot to say that the next of Mark's movies up for me is Henry VIII. Just got my Amazon tape on Saturday. I have to steel myself to the torture and beheadings and God knows what else in this one. I debated with myself over whether I could stand it. Mark's presence in it won me over finally. I'll let you know how I did after I've watched it.

I have to admit that Sean Bean's attachment to it also got me interested. I have loved him since Sharpe's Rifles. I know that his death is pretty horrifying in Henry VIII. I caught a glimpse of it in your pic spam here, Isn't there a shot of Mark as Norfolk galloping away from the castle and Sean is hanging from chains from the castle wall behind him?

Gulp! Maybe I'll fast forward.

I didn't really like that Henry VIII movie so much. Bonham Carter was so wrong as Anne Boleyn, it was unbearable. Cromwell was downright disgusting - and I'm saying this as someone who admires Cromwell an awful lot. But Mark's Norfolk was incredible, amazing performance, and a rather important role.

Yep, there's that shot. Unfortunately Sean Bean's part is rather small (Robert Aske just dies rather soon ;)). But it's still nice seeing him again, and hearing his wonderful Yorkshire accent. God, I'm such an accent nerd. ;)

OK, I saw the entire Henry VIII on Saturday. I saw it with a friend, who was a big fan of The Tudors. I closed my eyes every time a torture/death scene was about to start (which happened very early in the movie with Charles Dance).

The Robert Aske scene wasn't that bad. My friend said that the scenes were much, much worse in The Tudors because it was a much longer mini-series.

I agree with you about Bonham Carter's Anne. She is not a favorite of mine either. Emily Blunt as Catherine Howard was very good, and I really enjoyed the scenes she had with Mark as the very menacing Norfolk. Mark was just terrific and so believable, once again. It's funny that he menaces her again in Young Victoria.

It doesn't help for Mark's movies if you can't stand violence. ;) Glad you enjoyed the movie anyway. There is quite a bit of violence in The Tudors, but I still love the series. My problem with this Henry VIII movie is that it's just absurd to put the whole story of Henry VIII, with all wives, in one 3-hour-movie, it just doesn't work.

Yes, the sene with Catherine Howard was incredible. Norfolk shamelessly molesting his niece, he's such a creeper. ;) And I noticed that too, that he slaps Emily Blunt around more than once.

Oh, that's a pain. :( I'm fortunate enough as a European, no problems with all the British DVDs. I have the DVD, so I don't know where you could find a download or such.

Harry is one of his best parts ever. One of the few times he really plays the main character, and such a complex one on top of that. I'm just so disappointed they cheated us out of the awesome (gay) sex scene in the books. Bastards.

I've never watched the director's commentary, sounds like I ought to. ;)

And the "Missus" is a London thing, I think. Mark also calls his own wife his Missus when he talks about her.

Oh you MUST watch the director's commentary. Mark's good nature, geniality, and generosity about every one of his cast mates is so sweet. I think the more you see the real-life Mark, the more amazing his characters become. He could not be more different from these bad guys, so it makes his ability to channel them quite remarkable. You learn quite a few things too, such as: He lives down the street from Thandie iNewton and their kids go to school together, and that Mark originally wanted the role of One Two when Ritchie showed him the script.

Mark seems to be a wonderful guy, I love watching long interviews with him. I remember one long interview about Sherlock Holmes, which was done by several French interviewers, but in English. And he asked several times if he should speak more slowly, if they had trouble understanding him, and apologised for not speaking French when they all speak English. He's such a gentleman.
Mark as One Two? That would have been weird ... he's such a perfect Archie. Then again, he probably would have made a great One Two as well.
