What has been seen cannot be unseen

Almost a month since my last entry, which was very short. No, I am not dead or suddenly less of an internet addict. But I have no fic to show because of my incredible lack of creativity at the moment; uni and loads of exams have been keeping me busy, and my internet time has been spent drooling at the probably most awesome German national team in the history of football. I've been wanting to do a huge picspam of them for weeks, but how am I suppose to choosed from those hundreds and thousands of pictures of fun and joy and epicness? And now the World Cup has been over for a week and I still haven't posted a picspam. I won't do it now either because I have an exam tomorrow and should sleep now. But there's one thing someone pointed out in one of the comms today, and it needs to be shared ...

All right, admittedly a more harmless version of Aldo Raine, but still ... the moustache? The sprawl? I just can't unsee it ... *cries*
Btw, Ballack only wears that stupid outfit for some ad he did years ago. I hope. ;)

Until I find time for a proper post ... have a little macro to expand your vocabulary ...

...another one for the obligatory 300 joke ...

... and while Bastian Schweinsteiger is probably God, he can still fail:

Okay, I shouldn't call him God, because that title is reserved for Miro Klose:

Oh, damn, now that I got started, I have to post another two or three pretty pics:

Oh, and speaking of Marcell Jansen, the beauty on the right ...

Damn, before I get started on a huge picspam ... I will stop right away and go to bed. Wish me luck for my exam tomorrow. And I hope I made you look forward to more pictures, because even if you don't give a damn about football, these guys make models look ugly. ;)

[I found the macros on the internet, somewhere, I have no idea who made them, so I  can't really credit anyone, sorry.]

Yeah I was hoping for the Netherlands too. But we were in a pub in Liverpool and so obv. almost everyone else there wanted a Spanish win because of Torres. It's annoying when everyone else is cheering and you're looking glumly into your pint. :P

I'd have thought it'd be harder to get it wrong umm, characterization wise when it comes to RPS than regular fic because well, fictional characters have way more established canon than real people? You can get an idea of what someone's like from watching them on TV and reading interviews but it's not like you get a real window into their heads like you can with fictional characters. So...who can say you're getting it wrong?

I guess it's like when you have minor fictional characters though and then the fandom sort of comes to this general consensus of what they're like. There have been SO many football secrets on [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets lately I'm surprised there isn't a wealth of fic out there with more good stories!

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor you. :/ I watched England-USA in a nice bar around here, and of course I was rooting for England, and then some idiots somewhere cheered when the USA scored, and I was like, "what's wrong with them?"

Of course, you can basically do what you want and nobody knows if you get it 'right' or not. But the difference is: a minor fictional character doesn't really exist, and people usually accept your interpretation gladly because there's no canon for them anyway. But with real people ... you know that they're somewhere out there, and you want to get them right, even though you know you can't, and you're afraid that they will seem completely OOC, never mind that other fans don't know more about them than you. It just feels different. At least for me it makes writing RPS rather difficult. Rationally I know that I can do pretty much what I want to do, especially for celebrities who are very private about their lives, but it's still very hard to write something that feels right. Does that make any sense to you?

I was actually disappointed that there were so few football secrets ... I really expected a lot more. :( Well, there are some good fics, but not that many. Often for pairings I don't care about, or just crappy unrealistic lovey-dovey fluff with no depth and angst, or badly written porn. The really good fics, with characterisation and angst and awesome porn, are very rare.

Oh you mean like ALL OF FANDOM EVERYWHERE?!

:P

Hmmm, it sort of makes sense. You should just go for it if you feel ~tempted~ :D

Oh you mean like ALL OF FANDOM EVERYWHERE?!
I mean it's even worse than in every other fandom I've ever been in. :P I mean, take Blackwood/Coward - there's a virtual overdose of great fic and hardly any crap. If there is crap at all. And then there are fandoms in which you have to go through tons of crap to find a single, halfway good fic.

I'll see about it. Right now I'm still more in the "ooooooh, so many pretty pictures!"-stage. And I can't decide which one of the many wonderful pairings I want to write.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)

I take umbrage with this remark. I believe my Landa/Hellstrom rentboy fic meets the criteria, somewhat less the angst, because every time I write slash it's such a joyous experience. Lovely, straightforward sex, none of that hetero romance bullshit. Just two hot men getting down and dirty with each other. And I found the idea of a 31-year-old Landa picking up a 16-year-old Dieterchen during the first Nuremburg rally to be rather irresistible.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
... I think you overlooked both the "very rare" (=/= non-existing) and the ":P" ... keep it calm and peaceful, guys, we're all just poking fun at each other. ^^

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)

Not to worry, I was just joking. x-D

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, sorry if I snapped at you. I just won't have any wank on my LJ, so I don't even let people get started. ^^

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)

Not to worry, no wanking will be done here, your majesty! ;-D

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
ROFL, that reminds me of the new True Blood episode... Russell to Talbot: "Darling! *points at himself* King." Yeah, imagine me doing that, with considerably less Southern grandeur.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)

Ooh...I love your Eric/Godric icon.

We watched last night's episode twice. Once in English and once in Spanish. The Spanish dubbing is surprisingly good, even James Frain.

If only Franklin wasn't fucking Tara. He should be paired up with one of the men. Maybe Russell will go on a scruffy kick and dump Talbot for a while to top Franklin. Talbot will in turn become insanely jealous and try to seduce Eric. Eric would reject him, however, to top the hell out of Russell with some serious hate-fucking and BDSM involved and steal Franklin away from him.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-20 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Eric/Godric ... <3 I so hope for more flashbacks. :/

Iek, I hate dubs, no matter how good. They're just weird. Although, dubs would probably keep me from analysing people's accents. oO (Linn: "Oh hai Russell, I heard that w-hw-differentiation there!" I don't think that's a normal reaction.)

Haha, I'm less annoyed by Franklin/Tara than I expected, because he's so hilariously insane. Still, I think it's very obvious that Russell would love to jump him ... and Eric/Talbot is as good as canon for me. Eric would fuck Talbot as a first step on his revenge on Russell. I'm so cracked up by how Eric gets more obviously gay with every episode, and how they insert random scenes in their desperate attempt to keep up appearances of him being straight at the same time. Erm, fuck syntax. You know what I mean. Either way, all I REALLY want is for Godric to come back. Because Eric without him is just sad.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-20 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, God, they HAVE to show more Godric flashbacks. I have a strong suspicion that they will after seeing this week's episode.

Franklin is terrifically nuts, isn't he? :-D At first my son didn't like him, even though I kept telling him, "It's JAMES FRAIN!!! He's playing a bad guy, for a change!" BTW, to my mind Cromwell does NOT officially count as a bad buy. Anyway, after seeing this most recent episode, he really likes the character now. The nutsy aspect really grew on him.

I know what you mean about Godric. I'm pining for him as much as you (and maybe as much as Eric?) And you are so right about the attempts to gloss over Eric's obvious gayness. It's a terrible lost opportunity with this quadrangle of possible relationships: Russell/Franklin, Eric/Talbot, Franklin/Talbot, Eric/Russell--and let's not forget that at some point Bill has got to go back and fuck Sam. You were so right about that coupling that I ROFL when I saw Sam's dream about Bill. And maybe Sookie can just hook up with one of the werewolves and leave all our beloved bloodsuckers alone. ;-D

I really hope so. :/ Instead of rather pointless flashbacks ("look, look, look at straight Eric!" ... vampire!Eric: "dude, the kinda things I used to do back then oO").

I think only nutcase Catholics think of Cromwell as a bad guy. And nutcase Anglo-Catholics. Poor Cromwell, I love him so much. Anyway, Franklin is wonderful. I loved the scene with him and Russell.

I love how everyone is screwing over Bill. This is what happens when you're a relatively young vampire among a bunch of older vampires. I wouldn't mind some kinky Russell/Bill either. ^^ And Sam can comfort him when he comes back. But I generally like this darker side of Bill, makes him much more interesting. And I neve rthought I'd say this ... but I'm not e4ven opposed to Alcide (sp?)/Sookie. He's a likeable guy, and I think they'd really get along, considering their personal morals and characters.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-20 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)

I love Cromwell, too. ;-D

I'm not sure what the problem is with going all-out with the gayness in this show. It's cable TV, for christ's sakes. It's Alan Ball. They should just fucking go for it.

But then I could use a whole series that's nothing but Eric and Godric, following them through the ages. With lots of attention paid to their SS years. That to me is 10,000x more interesting than Sookie Sackhouse.

Franklin is sooo fab, I couldn't agree with you more. But I'm also delighted to see that they're giving more time to Lafayette this season since he's my favorite character after Godric.

YESSSS! Kinky Russell/Bill!! And I like seeing Bill's dark side, too. He was becoming far too much of a goody-goody. But unfortunately, I suspect that it's all part of some far-reaching plot to take down Russell and that he's still all good and noble. I haven't read any of the books after the first, so I have no idea, but that's what I suspect.

I think it is spelled Alcide, and I agree, he and Sookie make a much better pairing.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
As far as I know, you're not a wacko Catholic. ;D

I don't get it either. I just don't understand why it's 'acceptable' to show gay characters/couples, but why it's apparently still some big taboo to have them kiss/make up/have wild sex like het couples (or lesbians, for that matter - right, I forgot, that's hot and gay men are gross). [insert usual annoying bitching]

I actually like Sookie. And I don't say that about many female characters. I actually think they're doing pretty well in the show: sure, Sookie is the main character, but they're giving quite a bit of attention to all these wonderfully fucked-up side characters (Lafayette, Terry, Jessica etc.).

I was so surprised that Lafayette is getting a boyfriend. Apparently it was announced before the beginning of the season, but I hadn't known. So I was just squealing hysterically throughout their scenes. ;)

I suppose I just feel sorry for Alcide because of his shitty ex-girlfriend. And since, so far, there is no guy I could pair him up with, Sookie is right now the only person around who could make him a bit happier. And he looks like he needs some cheering up.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-21 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)

DEFINITELY not a wacko-Catholic! Although in the USA the Protestants are far wackier. ;-)

Like you, I'm delighted they're paying more attention to the secondary characters. It's becoming much more of an ensemble piece, and I like it that way. I like Sookie, but in the first two seasons far too much of the focus was on her and the extremely-annoying Jason, whom I wish they would just kill off, or maybe have Alcide top the shit out of him. If any boy deserved to be topped, it's Jason. Although there seems to be a gay couple in the making with him and Andy. But it's a husband/wife cute thing, like Himmler/Wölffchen, nothing really hot.

Yes, yes, squeeeeeeee for the Lafayette/Jesus pairing! These two are so hot together I can hardly stand it.

Yes, Alcide and Sookie would make a good pairing, but Alcide really needs to get into Jason's face and teach him a lesson. I want him to top that boy so bad.

Landa/Hellstrom rentboy fic

Oooh, link, pretty please? With cherries on top.

And yeah Linnde, you're right of course! I was going to say that little fandoms are groovy like that, but then I've looked around tiny fandoms before where there's pretty much no good fic so I guess it's all down to some weird kind of fate. :O

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's weird, some small fandoms are made of awesome, others are crap. And then there are the big fandoms. *shudder* Oh, and there's even worse: no fandom. I need Body of Lies fic ... and there's, like, a single fic, which only exists because I begged a friend to write it. ;)

Btw, and this sounds so petty ... Linn please? Usually I wouldn't mind, but I know someone IRL who's called Linde, and I can't stand her. ;) Oh fuck, this must be my bitchy day, I bitch at everyone for nothing. Sorry. :D I'm using my Christoph-disapproves-icon on myself. ^^

Here, erm ... have some Hans to make up for my pettiness. Please ignore me otherwise. *stands ashamed in a corner*
