Almost a month since my last entry, which was very short. No, I am not dead or suddenly less of an internet addict. But I have no fic to show because of my incredible lack of creativity at the moment; uni and loads of exams have been keeping me busy, and my internet time has been spent drooling at the probably most awesome German national team in the history of football. I've been wanting to do a huge picspam of them for weeks, but how am I suppose to choosed from those hundreds and thousands of pictures of fun and joy and epicness? And now the World Cup has been over for a week and I still haven't posted a picspam. I won't do it now either because I have an exam tomorrow and should sleep now. But there's one thing someone pointed out in one of the comms today, and it needs to be shared ...

All right, admittedly a more harmless version of Aldo Raine, but still ... the moustache? The sprawl? I just can't unsee it ... *cries*
Btw, Ballack only wears that stupid outfit for some ad he did years ago. I hope. ;)

Until I find time for a proper post ... have a little macro to expand your vocabulary ...

...another one for the obligatory 300 joke ...

... and while Bastian Schweinsteiger is probably God, he can still fail:

Okay, I shouldn't call him God, because that title is reserved for Miro Klose:

Oh, damn, now that I got started, I have to post another two or three pretty pics:

Oh, and speaking of Marcell Jansen, the beauty on the right ...

Damn, before I get started on a huge picspam ... I will stop right away and go to bed. Wish me luck for my exam tomorrow. And I hope I made you look forward to more pictures, because even if you don't give a damn about football, these guys make models look ugly. ;)

[I found the macros on the internet, somewhere, I have no idea who made them, so I  can't really credit anyone, sorry.]

Oh, God, they HAVE to show more Godric flashbacks. I have a strong suspicion that they will after seeing this week's episode.

Franklin is terrifically nuts, isn't he? :-D At first my son didn't like him, even though I kept telling him, "It's JAMES FRAIN!!! He's playing a bad guy, for a change!" BTW, to my mind Cromwell does NOT officially count as a bad guy. Anyway, after seeing this most recent episode, he really likes the character now. The nutsy aspect really grew on him.

I know what you mean about Godric. I'm pining for him as much as you (and maybe as much as Eric?) And you are so right about the attempts to gloss over Eric's obvious gayness. It's a terrible lost opportunity with this quadrangle of possible relationships: Russell/Franklin, Eric/Talbot, Franklin/Talbot, Eric/Russell--and let's not forget that at some point Bill has got to go back and fuck Sam. You were so right about that coupling that I ROFL when I saw Sam's dream about Bill. And maybe Sookie can just hook up with one of the werewolves and leave all our beloved bloodsuckers alone. ;-D

I really hope so. :/ Instead of rather pointless flashbacks ("look, look, look at straight Eric!" ... vampire!Eric: "dude, the kinda things I used to do back then oO").

I think only nutcase Catholics think of Cromwell as a bad guy. And nutcase Anglo-Catholics. Poor Cromwell, I love him so much. Anyway, Franklin is wonderful. I loved the scene with him and Russell.

I love how everyone is screwing over Bill. This is what happens when you're a relatively young vampire among a bunch of older vampires. I wouldn't mind some kinky Russell/Bill either. ^^ And Sam can comfort him when he comes back. But I generally like this darker side of Bill, makes him much more interesting. And I neve rthought I'd say this ... but I'm not e4ven opposed to Alcide (sp?)/Sookie. He's a likeable guy, and I think they'd really get along, considering their personal morals and characters.

Date: 2010-07-20 10:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com

I love Cromwell, too. ;-D

I'm not sure what the problem is with going all-out with the gayness in this show. It's cable TV, for christ's sakes. It's Alan Ball. They should just fucking go for it.

But then I could use a whole series that's nothing but Eric and Godric, following them through the ages. With lots of attention paid to their SS years. That to me is 10,000x more interesting than Sookie Sackhouse.

Franklin is sooo fab, I couldn't agree with you more. But I'm also delighted to see that they're giving more time to Lafayette this season since he's my favorite character after Godric.

YESSSS! Kinky Russell/Bill!! And I like seeing Bill's dark side, too. He was becoming far too much of a goody-goody. But unfortunately, I suspect that it's all part of some far-reaching plot to take down Russell and that he's still all good and noble. I haven't read any of the books after the first, so I have no idea, but that's what I suspect.

I think it is spelled Alcide, and I agree, he and Sookie make a much better pairing.

As far as I know, you're not a wacko Catholic. ;D

I don't get it either. I just don't understand why it's 'acceptable' to show gay characters/couples, but why it's apparently still some big taboo to have them kiss/make up/have wild sex like het couples (or lesbians, for that matter - right, I forgot, that's hot and gay men are gross). [insert usual annoying bitching]

I actually like Sookie. And I don't say that about many female characters. I actually think they're doing pretty well in the show: sure, Sookie is the main character, but they're giving quite a bit of attention to all these wonderfully fucked-up side characters (Lafayette, Terry, Jessica etc.).

I was so surprised that Lafayette is getting a boyfriend. Apparently it was announced before the beginning of the season, but I hadn't known. So I was just squealing hysterically throughout their scenes. ;)

I suppose I just feel sorry for Alcide because of his shitty ex-girlfriend. And since, so far, there is no guy I could pair him up with, Sookie is right now the only person around who could make him a bit happier. And he looks like he needs some cheering up.

DEFINITELY not a wacko-Catholic! Although in the USA the Protestants are far wackier. ;-)

Like you, I'm delighted they're paying more attention to the secondary characters. It's becoming much more of an ensemble piece, and I like it that way. I like Sookie, but in the first two seasons far too much of the focus was on her and the extremely-annoying Jason, whom I wish they would just kill off, or maybe have Alcide top the shit out of him. If any boy deserved to be topped, it's Jason. Although there seems to be a gay couple in the making with him and Andy. But it's a husband/wife cute thing, like Himmler/Wölffchen, nothing really hot.

Yes, yes, squeeeeeeee for the Lafayette/Jesus pairing! These two are so hot together I can hardly stand it.

Yes, Alcide and Sookie would make a good pairing, but Alcide really needs to get into Jason's face and teach him a lesson. I want him to top that boy so bad.

From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
Yes, I know. I think Christians in general are wacko, but I guess my dislike for Catholics is just irrationally stronger. What with the culturally Protestant background and stuff. ;)

Jason is fun, he's just hilarious. ^^ Why Alcide? oO Except for the porn, obviously. And while Andy/Jason is not hot, I ship the hell out of it. They're really too cute for words. Yep, pretty much like Himmler/Wölffchen. Except that at least Jason is smoking hot (his body at least, not the rest).

Yeah, and I like that we actually get a real gay pairing for once. So far we only had hints, porn (and that only for the lesbians) and one gay couple that was just there without getting more than hand-holding (Russell/Talbot). I really hope we get to see more of Lafayette and his bf. With the ridiculous name. -.-

I still don't get it. Huh.

Yes, that's one large difference between Europe and the USA. Most Protestants in the rest of the world are not fundamentalist wack-jobs that make the Catholics look good by comparison. And statistically, American Catholics tend to be much more liberal socially and politically than American Protestants. They're happy to distribute birth control to their kids and drive them to the doctor for abortions if necessary. You don't find a lot of Bristol Palins among the Catholics, despite the Papist teachings.

Alcide for the porn, definitely. And to smack Jason around a bit, because Andy will never do it. Poor Andy is the long-suffering, patient wife trying to calm down his endlessly restless and wandering husband. It's almost too cute for comfort, these two, they work together so perfectly. And I know so many gay couples just like them, with the older, patient wife and the younger, restless husband.

Lafayette and Jesus are perfect together. Believe it or not, Jesus is a very, very common Hispanic name, especially in the USA. You hear it all the time in California, especially in Southern California, where I live, which has a very large Hispanic population. About which I'm glad, because they rub so many of the whites raw. You know, those people who are so outraged that they come to the USA to take our cushy, valet-parking and janitorial jobs.

Shameless self-promotion: my story "I Only Have Eyes for You" is my response to your icon, and as far as I know, the only Hicox/Hellstrom slash out there.

From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
GUNF your icon. Why is Tara on it too? *grumble* Btw, thanks for the link to the interview with James. :)

Yep, I'm aware of that. As I said, my stronger dislike for Catholics is not exactly rational. Then again, I don't really consider American Protestants really Protestant in the European sense of the word. It's just so different. Anyway. I am one of those wacko hardcore anti-religious people who generally get aggressive about Christians. ;)

Still, as porny as Alcide/Jason is ... I just don't see it. Yeah, there is porn I'm not interested in. ;) Sure, I wouldn't mind seeing it, but the thought alone does nothing for me.

I know it's a common name among Hispanics. Doesn't change anything about the fact that it makes me either grin or frown. ;)

I'm fairly sure there's more than one Hicox/Hellstrom-fic out there. I think. I don't know, actually, because I don't really ship them that much. I just love the icon. ^^

How's this Franklin icon? Better?

I'll have to look again for more Hicox/Hellstrom fics. I cannot help but ship these two for their shared hand and smoking kink. And Hellstrom makes such a lovely top for Hicox, especially when he spanks him while fucking him.

"I am one of those wacko hardcore anti-religious people who generally get aggressive about Christians..." You and me both, kiddo. ;-D

Definitely better, thanks. ^^ I loved that scene with him and Jessica so much.

Landa/Hellstrom and Stiglitz/Hellstrom already make for two Hellstrom-pairings that break my heart. ;) Somehow Hellstrom/Hicox, with no appeal except the (admittedly mind-blowing) hand and smoking porn, can't live up to them. What I love most about Hellstrom is not that he's absurdly sexy, but that he's such a fascinating character to write, and somehow I can't think of any scenario in which Hellstrom/Hicox would get the same depth as Hellstrom with Landa or Stiglitz. But to each their own, I'm the last person to blame anyone for shipping two beautiful men with gorgeous hands. ;) And the smoking ... oh my, I just rewatched IB two days ago, I almost forgot how beautiful the smoking is. ;)

Now I'm thinking about Kill Bill, great. ;)

Date: 2010-07-26 10:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com

This is definitely not a pairing that conjures up depth or angst by any means. Mine is all tongue-in-the-cheek, a variation of the tavern scene where Hellstrom and Hicox decide to "discuss the situation" in a small bedsit off the backroom. Since they know they're going to die, the two decide on a quick shag for the road, in which they engage with great relish.

Date: 2010-07-26 10:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
I think that's pretty much the only way to write the pairing. ^^

Sooo, what did you think of the new True Blood episode? ^^

Date: 2010-07-27 02:09 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com
I agree. I don't think there's any other way. And it was so much fun to take that tavern scene in a different direction without disrupting the language of the original.

I loved this last episode of True Blood. I think this season is such a vast improvement over last season. And this episode was the slashiest episode ever (so far). I loved the semi-flirting between Russell and Eric, the little play on the husband/wife relationship between Russell and Talbot. The more they show Russell, the better I like him. What a wonderful character!

But despite the increased slashiness, they still chickened out in some respects. I got SO ANNOYED when they hesitated in having Lafayette & Jesus kiss, and then they PULLED BACK THE CAMERA!!! WTFFF???? We so need to see these two seriously make out. I can't believe they did that.

And Franklin better live, though I suspect he will. I don't believe you can kill a vampire without actually severing his head if you're not going to use a wooden stake or a silver bullet, no matter how much you bash in his skull. Especially one that's as old and as powerful as Franklin. Bill really is a baby by comparison with these guys, isn't he? ;-)

I really like how Eric is flirting with Russell, but I think they're making it very obvious that he's only doing it to gain Russell's trust and not let Russell suspect that Eric is up to something. As enjoyable as it is, I don't think it will lead to anything. :/
Russell/Talbot are wonderful. I love how Russell is busy straightening his clothes and mainly his belt after his little marital 'talk' with Talbot. Pity we didn't get to see that ... Russell fucking some obedience into Talbot. Om nom.
And I agree with you - Russell is a wonderful character. As much as I want Eric to get what he wants, I hope Russell will be around for a while. I'd be even happier if he got rid of Sophie-Anne while he's at it. What a silly little twat.

I so agree. oO Okay, I was almost afraid they wouldn't show the kiss at all. But still, that camera stunt was just ridiculous. *grumble*

I'm fairly sure that Franklin will live. Otherwise it would have been too anti-climactic. I can already imagine him popping up again next episode, being his usual hot, insane self. I just hope he doesn't shave off the stubble again. ;)

Yep, Bill is a baby. Probably the reason he behaves like an one, too. Can he please kill Lorena now? kthxbai. -.-

I couldn't agree with you more that we could have used a little Russell/Talbot "marital discussion." Those two are both a cute and hot couple.

It would have been especially nice since they dicked us with the kiss. If they'd cut the kiss entirely I would have been all lfaflksfklfalskhfkhad8af!!!!

Yes, they need to rid the show of Sophie-Anne and Lorena, who really drives me nuts because she's such a ditz. >:-[ And damn do those blood tears make a horrible mess!!!

I love these vampire relationships between maker and child. I loved them long before Eric/Godric and Russell/Talbot, they just push all my bottoms when it comes to vampires. ;)

I love blood tears. ^^ All this time I wanted Bill to kill Lorena, but now I want Eric to do that. The bitch insulted his Godric, he ought to tear her head off. And Sophie-Anne ... at least she has her funny moments, even if she's generally annoying.

I agree, I've always liked the incestous parent/child relationship between vampires and their makers. And I do hope that your comment, "they push all my BOTTOMS when it comes to vampires" was a fortuitous Freudian slip. ;-D

You're right. Eric should DEFINITELY rip Lorena's head off for that. I read a brief snippet about the actor who played Godric. He apparently studied the elderly to find that balance of serenity and certitude in his performance that so effectively conveyed the wisdom of the ages. It was a remarkable performance for such a young actor, and they damn well better BRING HIM BACK!!!

That happens when I reply to comments first thing in the morning. ;) Does it get any more embarrassing. *sigh* I'm appropriately ashamed of myself.

I was amazed as well. That's one thing that bothers me about most vampires, in books and even more so in movies. They rarely seem to be as old as they're supposed to be. But I believed that 20-year-old, pretty, boyish guy without any doubt that he was a 2000-year-old vampire. Allan Hyde is a great talent, I hope he won't spend the rest of his life in Danish TV shows. :(

I love that your Freudian slips are so transparent. ;-D

I couldn't agree with you more regarding Allan Hyde's talent. I want to see more of this remarkable young actor.

It's pathetic, really. ^^

Yeah, but he speaks English with an accent, and he's not Hollywood-pretty, so I guess America won't really be interested in him. *sigh*

From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com

Oh, your FR-slips just make you more interesting, and you know it. ;-)

Allan is at least as Hollywood pretty as the vapid RPAtz (more so, in my opinion), and he could probably come up with a more than reasonable American accent. Just think, he might even have made the Twilight movies worth seeing...although I rather doubt that ANYTHING or ANYBODY could make those films worth seeing.

Date: 2010-08-03 04:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
You're just trying to make me feel better about them. ;)

Oh ... your icon ... oh ... *distracted* I think I wanted to say something ...

It's really difficult for non-native speakers to achieve such a perfect accent that people don't even notice anymore that they're not American, and unfortunately that's what most American producers want. As long as his accent is too noticeable they'll only cast him for non-American characters. I mean, how many non-native speakers do you know who have or had a proper career in America? I can't think of many. First who comes to mind is Diane Kruger, but only because she sounds so American by now that Tarantino didn't even believe she was German. ;)

*goes back to staring at your icon*

Ah, speaking of Twilight. The author of the books actually wanted Henry Cavill to play Edward. Cavill, who is a) gorgeous and b) a decent actor. Fortunately he was too old for the part by the time they started shooting the movies. But it sickens me that I might have enjoyed at least parts of Twilight (not the crappy plot, but the pretty main character) if Cavill had been in it.

GUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNFFFFFFFFF for Carville!!! Three thumbs up! But as you say, it's just as well he was too old for the part.

I'd rather hear accented English than bad American accents. What is this wierd, flat growling sound that comes out of Irish actors like Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes? It reminds me of Lord Olivier's horrible Southern accent in that wonderful trashy seventies movie of his, "The Betsy." Stephen Moyer and Ryan Kwanten do fairly well. They've the wrong Southern accents, but at least they don't sound like complete fakes.

Although Kwanten is a bit too over the top for me. That guy has the worst luck with women. He really should just settle down with Andy.

Cavill is such hot shit. I have no idea what he is doing now that The Tudors are over, I ought to find out. ^^

I rather like what Stephen Moyer is doing. I don't care if it's authentic or not (vampires always have excuses for funny accents ;)), but it sounds very fitting for his character. I'm glad that they let James Frain do pretty much what he wanted to do in True Blood. It's not like his character is particularly American, so I'm glad they didn't force him to go for an over-American accent.

Date: 2010-08-04 11:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com

Yes, where the hell is Cavill? We need another fix NOW.

Moyer's accent is not bad at all. It's a little off for Louisianna, but it's appropriate for someone who owned a small plantation in the 19th century. He'd definitely be more cultivated than a Cajun.

I, too, like that James Frain hasn't been forced into a Southern accent. I like that not all the vampires are from the American South. I mean, if you're going to live for thousands upon thousands of years, you'd likely spend time all over the world, wouldn't you? I figure that vampires like Eric and Godric made their way to the New World because they had greater opportunities to gain power in a land with relatively young vampires. At 3,000 years old, for example, Russell would very likely still be a youngster in Europe.

How did you like this week's episode? ;-)
