Too many stupid Landa/Hellstrom-ideas for one day
I thought I had an idea for a Landa/Hellstrom-fic. But then I realised that I just want them to quote Schiller to each other in bed. And I haven’t even reread Don Karlos in ages. You can see that something is seriously wrong with my creativity when all I can come up with is have two Nazis quote gorgeous German literature to each other. And reading Musil’s Die Verwirrungen des Zöglings Törleß (The Confusions of Young Torless) gives me the crazy urge to write about teenage!Landa in an Austro-Hungarian boarding school. Or write about Landa and Hellstrom having some crazy discussion about why Landa is so very Austrian and why that annoys the hell out of Dieter (who is, let's face it, easily annoyed). What on Earth? Reading books is so not good for me, apparently. ;) But don't you just see that? The epic Austrian vs. Prussian bitching? Okay, I'm probably the only person who could get excited about something like that.
So, I’m still excited about the second
blackwoodcoward fic exchange. All those gorgeous fics coming up in a month! I love this fandom - it‘s tiny, but it has more really, REALLY great writers than most big fandoms. I just don’t like the prompt I’m supposed to write, it’s rather similar to something I already did before in some other fic I wrote, and it does nothing to make me want to write again. But I’m a good girl, and I will probably come up with something soon. I shouldn’t complain, I just felt kinda disappointed when I read the prompt, and I needed to whine a little. I had hoped for something that would make me think, “Wow, this is epic, my writer's block is gone, I can’t wait to start working on this!” and not “oh, okay, sure, I wouldn’t want to disappoint my giftee”.
Maybe I should really write pretentious literature fic about Landa and Hellstrom just to remember when writing feels like. It would probably be even more snobby than the pretentious music fic I wrote about them.Am I the only one who thinks that Cal Lightman would have a field day with Landa? Don’t worry, I won’t write crazy crossover fic. No, really, I miss Hellstrom, I miss his dysfunctional relationship with Landa, I miss their pretentious intellectuality, their mindfucking, their wonderfully understated love for each other, the kind of love that still wouldn’t keep them from shooting each other if they could get away with it, except that they would be so very bored without each other. I miss Hellstrom’s half-hateful admiration for Landa, and Landa’s reluctant fascination with Hellstrom … I just miss them. If only I knew what to do with them. Other than have them discuss literature in bed. ;)
Anyway, I should focus on my fic for the fic exchange, instead of looking for supposedly legitimate ways of procrastinating. ;)

P.S.: I don't know about you, but I am VERY PISSED at the last True Blood episode. Except for Russell, who is truly awesome beyond belief.

(Now I just have to figure out a way to have Landa read Baudelaire to Hellstrom... but I believe the world couldn't take the beauty of Hans Landa reading Baudelaire.)
Obviously I'm pissed off. How COULD they kill Franklin? Or rather: how could they kill him so early and so soon? If they had killed him after three amazing seasons, okay, but this? Godric's death made me sad, Franklin's just made me angry. And getting killed by Jason, of all people ... how much more humiliating can it be? *grumble*
Still adore Russell ("And now for the weather. Tiffany?"), although I think they overdid his insanity a bit. I really loved what they did with Eric and Pam - their relationship is really well done.
Btw, thanks for the pictures you sent to me. I liked them very much. :)

OMFG. Landa reading Baudelaire to Hellstrom...you just HAVE to make this happen. You have no choice, you've already teased us with the very idea.
You and I are on absolutely the same wavelength with regards to Franklin's demise. I had just told another friend and fan that Franklin's demise was bad enough, but to have him killed by Jason, of all people??? I was so angry I barely made it through the rest of the episode. And part of me keeps hoping that somehow or another he'll come back. How the hell could they introduce him as such a major character only to get rid of him so soon??? It reminded me of what happened on the TV series Mad Men. The show had just started exploring Sal's life as a closeted gay in early sixties Manhattan, he'd just had his first hot kiss at the hands (lips?) of a hotel bellboy, and they promptly have him fired and end what would have been one of the most interesting storylines of the series. WTF? WTFF?? WTFFF???
I know it was overdone, but still, I so enjoyed Russell's over-the-top insanity, especially when he's sitting there waving that piece of spinal chord around. And I agree with you about Eric and Pam's interaction and the additional insight into their relationship. This season has had a lot of nice character development scenes like this, including the one between Godric and Lafayette, and the ones between Lafayette and Jesus just get better and better. There's substantially more depth this season than there was in season 2.
Glad you enjoyed the pics. We aim to please. ;-D

I just don't get it, why do they have to get rid of their best characters? First Godric, now Franklin. Talbot was, while not all that fascinating, at least really entertaining. Maybe it's the whole "too cool to live"-thing - no show (movie, book) may have characters that are ten times cooler than the main characters. ;)
The last scene, with the spinal chord, was really great. But Russell talking to Talbot's remains in that jar was not insane, or funny, or well done, but just ridiculous. And not in a convincing way.
Don't we wish. ;)

Landa should read Baudelaire in the original French, so Hellstrom can drool over his accent as in "La Musica delle Parole" before jumping his bones. ;-)
"including the one between Godric and Lafayette"
That has to be my best wishful-thinking-Freudian-slip EVER. Of course I meant Eric and Lafayette. But now that we've put the thought in my head, how lovely that would have been, Godric offering comfort to the traumatized Lafayette after Eric had released him... ;-D
I don't understand why the producers are disposing of their best characters, either. Frankly, all of these secondary characters interest me far more than Bill, Sookie and Jason ever did. They should have killed off Jason's latest romance so we wouldn't have to be subjected to all the nonsense we're forced to see now.
Good point about Russell talking to the remains-jar. That was indeed a bit much, and unconvincing, as you said. I think I supressed that scene because it was so damn cartoony.
Anyway, I'll be interested to see what they come up with tonight. Now they did mentioned the WW II era Russell & his werewolves, but I imagine it's expecting too much for them to give us a few more flashbacks of Eric & Godric in their GUHNFY SS uniforms...
no subject
Now I have to imagine exasperated Godric. "Eric, my child, do you always have to scare these poor little humans like that?"
Yes, and I found that cartoony, ridiculous scene somehow disrespectful for a great character like Russell. I hate it when cool characters do OOC-stuff.
Well, if there are flashbacks (or other great things), please don't spoil me again. ;P I won't get around to watching it before tomorrow night.
no subject
Now you have to find a way to work in Hellstrom quoting that ramble about smoking from Mann's Zauberberg. You'd better stop reading for a while. ;-D
Re True Blood: not to worry. I have sworn to never again spoil you with spoilers! I'll be interested to hear what you think about this week's episode.
no subject
Using that quote shouldn't bee to hard: I just need some scene that has Landa being worried about his Dieterchen, and that happens far more often than Landa would ever admit.
I think I need to re-read Der Zauberberg ... and Buddenbrooks, too. But for now I'll content myself with watching the movie adaptation of the Buddenbrooks with August Diehl. I don't know if you've seen it, but I found a torrent that has English subtitles.
Okay, I've finally seen the episode. I rather liked it. Again, I loved the scenes with Eric and Pam, especially when she mentioned Godric. Russell/boytoy was fucked-up in all the right ways. I don't think there's anyone who's not squeeing about Hoyt/Jessica, and I'm also really glad they're finally giving us a few more scenes with Bill and Jessica. As I said, I love maker-child-relationships, and it's great that Bill is finally behaving like a proper maker and taking care of her. There was probably also a lot of bullshit that annoyed me, but I've conveniently forgotten about it. Ah, right, and the Sam flashbacks were great! I love dark!Sam. With black hair. Epic. His little brother is getting more and more annoying, and even their puppy love can't make up for that. I also want to do horrible, painful things to Tara. GIMME BACK MY FRANKLIN!!!
Erm, yes. What did you think of it? :)
no subject
Re True Blood: I liked this episode, too. Loved the Sam flashbacks and Lafayette & Jesus' V interlude. At first I couldn't stand Jessica, but over the last few episodes I've come to like her, especially now that she's getting proper training from Bill and fighting back big time. Her character's finally developing beyond the whiny, lovesick "I'm a vampire, what do I do?" teen. And I, too, am happy about the return of Hoyt. :-) Like you, I'm starting to find Tommy very annoying and was worried for a while that he would end up with her.
Omigod, yes, Russell had some GREAT "I'm in fucked-up despair" scenes in this last episode, and of course any slash involving him is more than welcome, as I'm sure you'll agree. ;-)
They buried Franklin's remains, and don't the vampires in this series heal when they're planted underground? I know that happened to Bill once. So I'm hoping since Franklin was buried fairly quickly after he was killed that the soil will bring him back to life...could that remotely be a possibility?

And UNF August, he's amazing. Christian is probably the most fascinating character to play in the whole thing, and August is doing really well with the role. In tiny parts: Sylvester Groth being hilarious (am I the only one who thinks that he kinda looks like James Frain? Not as Goebbels, but in some other movies?), and the guy who played Oberfeldwebel Wilhelm in Basterds.
... Oh, and another difference between novel and movie? I read the novel just for itself, and loved it. The movie got me shipping Thomas/Christian like there's no tomorrow. How am I supposed to resist hate/love-brothercest? With more hate than love, mind you. I definitely need to reread the novel to see if the slashiness is already there, or if it was only brought there by the actors. I really can't remember, but maybe that's just because Mann's writing blew my mind so much I overlooked the slash.
Anyway, I don't really know about other adaptations. I've seen an adaptation of Der Zauberberg once, but I pretty much erased it from my memory. You just can't make a movie from a novel like that. *shrug*
Tell me what you thought of the Buddenbrooks movie when you've seen it. Especially of August. :) I made a bunch of caps - picspam might follow.
True Blood: I agree, Jessica was rather annoying in the beginning (understandably so), but now she is really getting more interesting.
I don't think Franklin will be back now. The whole burying-in-the-soil-thing doesn't work when a vampire has met "true death", as they call it. Once he got staked, he's gone, and nothing can bring him back. Otherwise Russell would have done that with Talbot, no? I don't know, I think it's very unlikely. (And if they do bring Franklin back, that will be a very pleasant surprise. ;))
no subject
I'll let you know what I think when I get the chance to screen Buddenbrooks. I know I'm going to love August's performance--he's so bloody talented he takes my breath away. And ooooooh, please do a picspam ASAP!
True Blood: *sigh* you're probably right about Franklin never coming back, especially since the season will end after two more episodes. Damn it to hell. Bloody stupid producers!!!
Is it just me, or does this season seem far shorter than the last one? Or is it only because after Godric died, last season seemed to transform into one long, boring, interminable mess?
no subject
I agree, this season seems shorter, mainly because it's actually fun most of the time, and not a boring mess. Tbh, I didn't even watch the finale of season two until about a week or so before season three started airing. I just lost interest after they killed off Godric.
no subject
I believe I've seen a few pics from this film, and I agree. Gusti in period clothes with a porn 'stache is just too good not to be shared with the world.
After this season ends I'll watch the next one mainly for Russell, Lafayette & Jesus. I'm just SO MAD that they killed off both Godric AND Franklin, two of their very best characters!!! >:-[
no subject
Let's hope they'll keep Russell around, and don't decide to kill him off in an oh-so-exciting season finale. Then I'll be REALLY pissed off. I don't know, I also watch for Eric (when they're not trying to convince us he's straight/bi), for Pam at times, and as probably the last person in the world, I really like Bill and Sookie, both alone and together, as long as they don't take up 80% of an episode. As two characters among many ,and not THE maincharacters, they're really great.
no subject
I'll watch Buddenbrooks as soon as I can. I've been very much in a Gusti mood lately. I watched Mouth to Mouth just for his bare-arsch scene.
I'm not even going to speak about True Blood but just wait to see what you have to say, especially if you've had a chance to see the previews for the final episode of this season.
no subject
So, watched both episode 11 and the preview for the finale. I hope that the preview is only bluffing about Russell's death (it must be - if Russell died, they wouldn't announce it in the preview ... unless he doesn't die in the sun, but does indeed die later on in the episode).
I'm seriously falling in love with Eric and Pam here, every episode gets just better. I always found Pam a bit annoying and superficial, but their love for each other is just gorgeous, precisely because the show is not trying to force anything romantic or even sexual into it. I don't see them as father and daughter, not even as siblings, but something entirely different. It's beautiful.
I'm ridiculously happy about Hoyt/Jessica. Kinky, bloody, and still fluffy vampire sex, yay! Hoyt's mother and Summer crack me up so much. "I even offered him my virginity." I lol'd so hard, Summer is hilarious.
I still like dark!Sam, I just don't know why they feel the urge to pair him up with the one character who should die in the finale. Good thing they won't stay together. I'm just worried about Sam because of his punk brother (who was so adorable when trying to apologise because he wanted to stay with Sam ... puppy love indeed).
Also, it will never stop to make me happy that Alan Ball is such a die-hard Bill/Sookie-shipper. Btw, have you seen that hilarious secret on fandom-secrets yesterday? About butthurt Eric/Sookie-shippers whose whining soundes like "blah blah shipping emergency blah"? Best summary ever.
So,yeah, overall not a bad episode, it just seemed kinda short to me. I'm looking forward to the finale, but I'm really afraid that they're going to kill off Russell. Or do something else that's completely stupid, just to get a nice cliffhanger. -.- Also, why do we have to wait for two weeks AGAIN? Do they think that will make us more excited, instead of more annoyed? *grumble*
no subject
I haven't seen enough of Hansi's work to comment on him, I'm afraid. I still haven't seen Sherlock, can you believe that? It's not as though I haven't torrented it, I have. I've even torrented a few episodes of the new Sherlock series. But it's like an addiction for me, I keep torrenting more and more and rarely watching what I already have because there's just such an abundance of riches!!!
Phew! If you're really convinced they won't kill Russell AND Eric, which it looks like they're planning to do, I don't have to worry. If they do kill them both, well, that's it. It would be bad enough to lose Russell; but I can't handle the series without ASkars. Besides, why do they fell it's so necessary to wrap everything up at the end of the season? why not give us a good cliffhanger for a change?
BTW, did you see their little Oscar-like roll call of the dead In Memoriam sequence before the episode started? It looks like they have really killed off Franklin for good. WAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! D-':
As far as the two week wait is concerned--that's so HBO can run a marathon of all the episodes up until the last two through Labor Day Weekend (which is the coming weekend) here in the USA. They always pull crap like that because they're afraid ratings will go down because so many people go out of town that weekend. So you blame America for that. ;-D
I couldn't agree with you more about Eric and Pam. To me they represent an authentic vampire/offspring relationship, because it's not at all just a parent/child thing--it's so much more than that. And seeing Pam's relationship with Eric makes her more interesting, just as seeing Jessica and Bill makes her more interesting. And yes I am all squeeeee over Hoyt/Jessica!! But what are they going to do about her hymen problem? Can't they give here silver surgery to remove it permanently? Realistically, it's highly unlikely she would have had one to begin with. Most modern teenage girls don't because of school sports activities. In fact most haven't had them for several decades due to physical education.
Hoyt's Mom should just adopt Summer. They'd make a perfect Mother/Daughter. As for Sam, I'm still unclear on why he went all dark and angsty all of a sudden. Do you know? But I agree, I like it. Except him getting back together with Tara. Can't They get rid of her? And who knows what will happen with Tommy/Sam. I suppose one could always hope they let bygones be bygones in a brothercest reunion...
no subject
Maybe you should stop downloading until you've watched everything. ;) Or make a priority list with stuff to watch and follow it then. ;)
I am 100% convinced that Eric won't die. Eric is too important in the show to die, and no matter how much they change compared to the books, they won't kill off one of their three main characters. It would be like killing Sookie or Bill.
Russell ... I don't know. I think letting him live would be a big problem for the show: he's extremely powerful, and he wants to kill Eric. I don't see how they can let him live, realistically he'd just kill Eric and be done with it.
Huh, what sequence? I don't remember that.
I know, I know, there's no Lie To Me either next week. Still sucks. ;)
Most maker/child-relationships are actually sexual, but somehow it fits a lot better that way with Eric and Pam. I can just about see them trying to have sex shortly after he made her, because somehow Eric felt that's what maker and child DO, and Pam probably went like, "oh, GOD, Eric, let's never do that again. go back to your boys, I go back to my girls, and that's it, k?"
About Jessica: even wounds from silver heal again. Silver just hurts them more, and healing takes longer. But it heals anyway. Sooo ... no helping poor Jessica.
No, Tara has too many fans. Also, everyone would whine about killing off one of the two black characters, it would be racist, see? ;) Anyway, I'm glad we get some more insight into Sam, even if it's all very vague right now. His brother ... I don't know if I want him to stick around. Puppy love is all good and well, but I think he'd just annoy me too much if he stayed for long.
no subject
I promise I will never again befoul the first name of Lord Matheson. ;-D
It's a never-ending thing, torrenting. Now I need to get my ratio back up on Demonoid, and I'm going need another 1TB external drive soon...that said, with "Ich Bin Die Andere" and "Buddenbrooks" I'm going to have a Gusti double-feature very, very soon.
It will be sad to lose Russell in True Blood, but as long as Eric remains alive I'll be all right. BTW, the "In Memoriam" sequence was right before this latest episode, and it basically gave the death roll call for the entire series so far.
I agree that most maker/offspring relationships are sexual as well as parental, but you're absolutely right about Eric and Pam. It just works perfectly. I love your little Pam remark. I can imagine her saying exactly that afterwards. ;-)
Poor Jessica. That would drive me nuts because I love being penetrated. There must be some vampire surgeon somewhere who could take care of it for her in some way. There must be some sort of vampire medicine, right?
I could probably stand Tara if she wasn't back fucking Sam. And Tommy is annoying now. I really want Sam to explore his feminine side with Bill. That's still unfinished business as far as I'm concerned.
no subject
Yay Gusti double-feature. Still haven't seen Ich bin die andere, although I've downloaded it. So many movies, so little time.
Pam would probably ask Eric when he last slept with a woman ... and he'd be like, "erm, dunno, 200 years ago or so?" Pam: *eyeroll* "I noticed. Go to Godric. I'm sure you're better with men." ;
no subject
I figured poor Hänschen keeps growing a beard and mustache to make him look at least a few years past 16. He's a cutie-pie, but way too young for me. I feel like a cradle-robber just looking at him!
You HAVE to see Ich Bin Die Andere. Gusti kissing and making out (albeit with a strange, multiple-personality woman)!! But even more important: NAKED GUSTI!! NAKED GUSTI!!!
Your little post-required-shag comment of Pam's is perfect, and sooo in character. ;-)
no subject
I think the only movie in which Hans looks his age (i.e. early thirties) is in Sherlock Holmes - but only because he has a very elegant beard (instead of the usual fluffiness) and some grey strands in his hair. But I guess that's what I like so much about him ... those innocent, blue eyes, the boyish face, and then that crooked, dirty smirk.
I know I have to see it. I've downloaded it already, and looked through it ... om nom naked Gusti. ^^ Landa approves. But I have to finish a fic for a fic exchange until Monday, so I'm kinda busy.
Yeah, seems like I have an unknown talent for writing Pam. Joy oh joy.
no subject
Landa would have a field day with Gusti's beautiful arse. (see? I used the word!)
Oh, I would absolutely love to see you write an Eric/Pam bitching at each other fic. Like you don't already have roughly 9,000 fics to write. Not to mention university. ;-)
no subject
Yay British!
It's been too long since I wrote pseudo-het fic. ;) Yeah, I think if I ever made a list of fics to write, I'd be shocked. I just finished my fic for a fic exchange, and now I should REALLY focus on a paper I have to write for uni. And I'll see when I'll find the time/creativity to work on La musica 3.
