Stealing another meme from
sternflammenden, yay! I'm wasting way too much time on memes lately.
Give me a pairing and I'll tell you:
1. When or if I started shipping them:
2. What I think their challenge is:
3. What makes me happy about them:
4. What makes me sad about them:
5. What moment I wish had never happened:
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
7. My happily ever after for them:

Re: spoilers for ADWD (if anyone else reads these comments)
Date: 2011-10-03 01:42 pm (UTC)Exactly! They're both overshadowed by their brothers and have been placed outside of the line of succession - and, yes, less justly so in Stannis' case. Each of them has had to fight for a place of their own (Stannis for Dragonstone, captured from the Targaryens, and Jon for the Wall and the respect of his brothers).
I liked Stannis before ADWD but I just couldn't really get behind him as king. Until he showed up at the Wall toward the end of ASOS I didn't even really see him as much of a candidate because his plot seemed so periforal. I don't think I had any real preference about who ended up on the throne before I got behind Stannis though.
I love that your brother is a Greyjoy fan! I hope to meet him one day IN THE DROWNED GOD'S WATERY HALL! Haha. I'm so pleased I got my mother into the books though. :D
I ship Jon/EVERYTHING. I can't help it. I don't even know why.
So digging the idea of Stannis knighting Jon just to make him shut the hell up about his objections. Stannis would be all: "You will be an asset to my Kingsguard and you will kneel as I tell you to." And Jon's response would be something like: "... *kneels*". XD

Date: 2011-10-03 01:48 pm (UTC)Poor Stannis, feeling like a bastard now. :(
It took me some time to get behind Stannis, but I think he won me over when he first said that he didn't want the throne, that he thought of it mostly as a duty and an obligation (it was either in ACOK or in ASOS). And he's the only character so far who is NOT mostly about wanting power, but about the responsibilities of power. Well, Ned too, but without being as naive as Ned. Also, I loved how very early on, Stannis gets real moral depth. He's one of the few characters who seem to think about what's right and wrong, about the consequences of their action, what is acceptable and what is not. And he's not even a POV character.
My mother doesn't like fantasy, nor my father. But I got my brother to read it, even though he doesn't like Stannis. Unfortunately he ruined one of Aeron's quotes for me when he misspoke and said, "no godless man shall shit the Seastone Chair." I can't say it properly anymore. -.-
I ship Stannis/everything. ;) It's compulsive.
It's hilarious, isn't it? Stannis is so wonderfully matter-of-fact. "Oh, you're not a knight? Mhm, k, then I'll knight you."
