What has been seen cannot be unseen

Almost a month since my last entry, which was very short. No, I am not dead or suddenly less of an internet addict. But I have no fic to show because of my incredible lack of creativity at the moment; uni and loads of exams have been keeping me busy, and my internet time has been spent drooling at the probably most awesome German national team in the history of football. I've been wanting to do a huge picspam of them for weeks, but how am I suppose to choosed from those hundreds and thousands of pictures of fun and joy and epicness? And now the World Cup has been over for a week and I still haven't posted a picspam. I won't do it now either because I have an exam tomorrow and should sleep now. But there's one thing someone pointed out in one of the comms today, and it needs to be shared ...

All right, admittedly a more harmless version of Aldo Raine, but still ... the moustache? The sprawl? I just can't unsee it ... *cries*
Btw, Ballack only wears that stupid outfit for some ad he did years ago. I hope. ;)

Until I find time for a proper post ... have a little macro to expand your vocabulary ...

...another one for the obligatory 300 joke ...

... and while Bastian Schweinsteiger is probably God, he can still fail:

Okay, I shouldn't call him God, because that title is reserved for Miro Klose:

Oh, damn, now that I got started, I have to post another two or three pretty pics:

Oh, and speaking of Marcell Jansen, the beauty on the right ...

Damn, before I get started on a huge picspam ... I will stop right away and go to bed. Wish me luck for my exam tomorrow. And I hope I made you look forward to more pictures, because even if you don't give a damn about football, these guys make models look ugly. ;)

[I found the macros on the internet, somewhere, I have no idea who made them, so I  can't really credit anyone, sorry.]

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Schweinsteiger is fucking amazing. I can't believe how they snobbed him for the Best Player award. It was SO obvious they didn't want to give it to a German as well after Müller won both Topscorer and Best Young Player. :(

Yay for people rooting for Germany! I have no idea what happened in the Spain game. Was it because Müller wasn't there? Was it because they were scared? I just don't know. If they had played properly against Spain, the way they played against England and Argentine, Spain with its pathetic 1:0-victories and its boring football could have gone home. :/

I kinda wanna write football slash, but have I sunk that low? ;)

[identity profile] assassin-nariel.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
I kinda wanna write football slash, but have I sunk that low? ;)

You've written Nazi slash, RPslash, vampire slash... I say, football is one step up.
;-))

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess you're right, but I still feel weird about it. Maybe because they're still alive? Writing actor RPS was also a real pain, writing Nazi slash was so much more relaxing. Erm. That sounds wrong, doesn't it? ;)

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)

I feel the same way about RPS with living people. Plus, I'd love to see another Heydrich/Schellenberg fic. I can never have enough of those. ;-D

In general, I find historical RPS to be absolutely delightful. But living persons? I always feel that it's less believable somehow. Maybe because, with the exception of yourself (even if it is struggle) it's so badly written.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
True, true. But somehow I feel like everything has been said in the fic I wrote. I know it sounds stupid and arrogant, but I honestly love that fic and I don't think I could outdo myself with these two. Whatever other Heydrich/Schellenberg I could write would only be a meagre shadow of this one. Maybe it's because I understand Heydrich so well that I can't write him. It feels very, very personal. I'm not comfortable with writing personal stuff.

Why thank you. Even if there is great RPS out there. I think it can be believable, but at least I usually beat myself up about it while writing. And writing is enough of a pain as it is, without the added fretting of "omfg I'm not getting this actor/player/whatever I admire right!"

(icon reused to make you happy)

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)

Thank you, thank you, for your generous reuse of the Heydrich hand kink icon.

Now it's up to Nariel to publish that delightful Heydrich/Schellenberg one-night-stand fic she wrote. When the heck is that going to appear for everyone to enjoy? I mean, we even have pics to illustrate the thing. Heydrich in naval uniform, cute little boyish passport photo of Schellenberg.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she oughta. The world needs more Heydrich/Schellenberg. I don't see why other people refuse to contribute to it. And at least Nariel can write them ... I shudder to think of those horrible Heydrich/Himmler-fics out there ... Dear internet, leave your dirty hands of complex characters you can't write, kthxbai.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)

Maybe I'll try my hand at one. Or perhaps Stierlitz/Schellchen, has anyone written one of these?

And who can we pair up with Max Aue? Aside from his sister, which I know you won't read. That's going to be Machiavelli & my Wagner fic.

(icon used with Nariel's permission.)

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't think there's any out there. But I think Stierlitz is also incredibly difficult to write. And and and Heydrich disapproves of anyone stealing his Schellchen. He's possessive. ;)

Thomas maybe? His beloved Thomas? Or, whathisname, his linguist boyfriend? Or Hellstrom, for that matter?

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)

All of these are excellent suggestions for Max Aue, particularly his linguist boyfriend. I was so disappointed that those two did not get it on in the book. Could they have possibly been MORE slashy? Well, yes. They could have sucked and fucked, but they didn't.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it was a bit disappointing. Still, it actually made a lot of sense, considering Aue's general policy: he only fucks with people he considers fuckbuddies (like that really young guy, what was his name ... the one he seduced with his pseudo-Greek philosophy), but he doesn't sleep with the people he really cares about (Thomas, the linguist bf). But I won't get started on another huge analysis of Aue's sexuality (in short: unlike some readers, I don't think he's actually straight, I think he's as gay as you can get; I just think he's very, very repressed, despite his apparently cool "I like to get fucked, so what?"-attitude).

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)

You're right, it does make sense--especially since he is so repressed. He can't possibly think of himself having sex with a man with whom he actually has a relationship of some sort. But I still maintain that his sexuality goes beyond gay or straight since he identifies with his sister when he's fucked. It's just very complex. I certainly wouldn't call him straight by any means. But he's too easily aroused by his sister to be completely gay, either. This is why I like the word queer. It fits him perfectly without having to label him one of the other. I consider myself the same way.

Hahaha! Oh dear, you know I was actually addicted to Olympics Slash for a little while back in 2008. I'd never judge football slash...though I have no idea how you'd go about it! (RPS, the writing of, is all Greek to me!)

I think it was a confidence thing, definitely. If they'd beat Spain they'd have gone on to win it, no question. They were just too tentative, but I can understand that. Spain are bloody boring to watch. I wish it had gone to penalties, think Germany could have toasted them there too.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, I never got into Olympics, but I've always loved football when our wonderful national team plays. ;) I've written RPS before, for actors, but somehow it's really difficult because you're so worried about getting it wrong (which is absurd, considering that it's just fiction anyway). Football slash is just begging to be written, and most fics you find online are crap. :/

That's the thing, they were afraid. And Müller was definitely missing, probably one of the reasons they played less offensively. But even so it's hard to explain ... people like Schweinsteiger and Friedrich, who played so well in all other matches, suddenly started to make the weirdest mistakes.
I was hoping for penalties in the final match. It would have been so much more interesting than that stupid last minute goal. And I wanted the Netherlands to win just to punish Spain for boring us to death. ;)

[identity profile] viceindustrious.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I was hoping for the Netherlands too. But we were in a pub in Liverpool and so obv. almost everyone else there wanted a Spanish win because of Torres. It's annoying when everyone else is cheering and you're looking glumly into your pint. :P

I'd have thought it'd be harder to get it wrong umm, characterization wise when it comes to RPS than regular fic because well, fictional characters have way more established canon than real people? You can get an idea of what someone's like from watching them on TV and reading interviews but it's not like you get a real window into their heads like you can with fictional characters. So...who can say you're getting it wrong?

I guess it's like when you have minor fictional characters though and then the fandom sort of comes to this general consensus of what they're like. There have been SO many football secrets on [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets lately I'm surprised there isn't a wealth of fic out there with more good stories!

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor you. :/ I watched England-USA in a nice bar around here, and of course I was rooting for England, and then some idiots somewhere cheered when the USA scored, and I was like, "what's wrong with them?"

Of course, you can basically do what you want and nobody knows if you get it 'right' or not. But the difference is: a minor fictional character doesn't really exist, and people usually accept your interpretation gladly because there's no canon for them anyway. But with real people ... you know that they're somewhere out there, and you want to get them right, even though you know you can't, and you're afraid that they will seem completely OOC, never mind that other fans don't know more about them than you. It just feels different. At least for me it makes writing RPS rather difficult. Rationally I know that I can do pretty much what I want to do, especially for celebrities who are very private about their lives, but it's still very hard to write something that feels right. Does that make any sense to you?

I was actually disappointed that there were so few football secrets ... I really expected a lot more. :( Well, there are some good fics, but not that many. Often for pairings I don't care about, or just crappy unrealistic lovey-dovey fluff with no depth and angst, or badly written porn. The really good fics, with characterisation and angst and awesome porn, are very rare.

[identity profile] viceindustrious.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh you mean like ALL OF FANDOM EVERYWHERE?!

:P

Hmmm, it sort of makes sense. You should just go for it if you feel ~tempted~ :D

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh you mean like ALL OF FANDOM EVERYWHERE?!
I mean it's even worse than in every other fandom I've ever been in. :P I mean, take Blackwood/Coward - there's a virtual overdose of great fic and hardly any crap. If there is crap at all. And then there are fandoms in which you have to go through tons of crap to find a single, halfway good fic.

I'll see about it. Right now I'm still more in the "ooooooh, so many pretty pictures!"-stage. And I can't decide which one of the many wonderful pairings I want to write.

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)

I take umbrage with this remark. I believe my Landa/Hellstrom rentboy fic meets the criteria, somewhat less the angst, because every time I write slash it's such a joyous experience. Lovely, straightforward sex, none of that hetero romance bullshit. Just two hot men getting down and dirty with each other. And I found the idea of a 31-year-old Landa picking up a 16-year-old Dieterchen during the first Nuremburg rally to be rather irresistible.

[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
... I think you overlooked both the "very rare" (=/= non-existing) and the ":P" ... keep it calm and peaceful, guys, we're all just poking fun at each other. ^^

[identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)

Not to worry, I was just joking. x-D

ROFL, that reminds me of the new True Blood episode... Russell to Talbot: "Darling! *points at himself* King." Yeah, imagine me doing that, with considerably less Southern grandeur.

Oooh, link, pretty please? With cherries on top.

And yeah Linnde, you're right of course! I was going to say that little fandoms are groovy like that, but then I've looked around tiny fandoms before where there's pretty much no good fic so I guess it's all down to some weird kind of fate. :O
