I'm in the right mood for memes right now. And I should really go to bed already. -.-

Give me a character (or ten) from any fandom you know I'm in, and I'll let you know:

* How I FEEEEEL about this character
* All the people I ship romantically with this character
* My non-romantic OTP for this character
* My unpopular opinion about this character
* One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

HANI SALAAM, MY DEAR.

From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
Good choice. :D

1) SO MUCH LOVE. I'm too tired to express how awesome Hani is. Words fail me. I will just bow down and stare at him smoking his cigars and listen to his VOICE. GUNF.

2) Duh, Roger. If you can call what they have romantic. ;)

3) Also Roger? I like them in any possible way. ;)

4) I wasn't aware that there are popular and unpopular opinions about him? Are there?

5) He didn't die, that's more than I have come to expect from Mark's characters. I want a sequel, though. ^^ And I wish he had bitchslapped Ed.

You know that it's coming; but I'll give you a twist.

Renly Baratheon.

Date: 2011-09-27 01:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
Ha, I did not see that one coming. ;)

1) I'm a bit torn about Renly. I really liked him in AGoT, he seemed to be sensible, smart and overall a good guy. Even his dickish comments about his brother were alright, because we all like to make dickish comments about our siblings. Renly is easy to like, he's nice and sweet and says witty things. But ACoK just showed us what an irresponsible, mean, superficial jerk he is, how he doesn't give a fuck about anyone but himself (and Loras), how he's really just selfish and greedy underneath the pretty smiles. I still don't hate Renly, but I can't like him anymore, and it makes me so mad how many people in fandom feel sorry for his death and hate Stannis for it. If anyone in this series had it coming, it's Renly.

2) Only Loras. Their relationship is definitely sweet, and I can't imagine Renly with anyone else.

3) In a perfect world, I wish I could ship him and Stannis as a brotherly bromance after they got over their differences. ;)

4) He had it coming, and I do not feel one bit sorry for him.

5) I wish he had just bent the knee to Stannis. Everything would have been so much easier, and so much pain could have been avoided.

From: [identity profile] sternflammenden.livejournal.com
1. I know what you mean. Renly would have been the worst king out of all the Baratheon brothers, frankly, and wouldn't have been equipped for the responsibility and gravity. He's really charismatic in GOT but a massive idiot elsewhere. And he has one of the best creepy deaths in the series.

Date: 2011-09-27 06:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
I agree, Renly would have been an awful king. He would have wasted even more money on tourneys and feasts, he would leave ruling to scheming fucks like Littlefinger, and his kids would probably be the same. One of the many things i love about Stannis is that I'm fairly sure that guy would drill his son into being a good king. You know, if he ever had one. Renly should have just been Stannis' propaganda minister. That would have been awesome.

This is a good chance. :D

Ok, Sandor Clegane.

Date: 2011-09-27 11:21 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
Sandor, of all people. Okay. I like Sandor.

1) I love him as a character. He's fascinating, he has some beautiful lines, I love his character development (and I'm curious where it's going), he's one of the most interesting characters when it comes to the subject of knighthood and its values (which I generally find a very interesting theme in ASOIAF) ... There's nothing I have -against- Sandor, I think.

2) Sansa, although I think I only ship it as unconsummated love. I don't see them getting together.

3) Arya. Their time together was so epic. And Stranger, of course, the most awesome horse in the series. ;) I also think we should have had some scene with Bronn and Sandor.

4) While I ship Sandor/Sansa, I don't want them to get together and get a "happily ever after" ending. I just don't see it happening, and I know that's an unpopular opinion at least among SanSan shippers.

5) I hope he's not dead. ;) And I hope he gets to kill UnGregor.

I don't know what other Sansa/Sandor shipopers are like, but I am in agreement with your every word.

WEll, some of them seem to agree with me/us, but a lot of them seem to ship them in a very traditional "I want them to marry and have kids" way, and I just don't see that as a realistic outcome for the pairing. I also don't think it would make either of them happy.

Date: 2011-09-27 11:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] alexandral.livejournal.com
obviously, everyone is allowed their own opinion, but I just don't see it. The only outcome I see (squinting) is something that is actually a common "future" in snasaxsandor fanfiction - after all is said and done Sansa becoming a mistress of Winterfell (on her own), Sandor working for her with occasional sex. I quite like this outcome actually as I DON'T want Sansa to "marry happily ever after" with some princeling. I want her to make it on her own and have men at her feet. (Well, Sansa marrying Stannis with occasional threesome with their worker Sandor will be fine too. :D)

Edit: but I am 100% sure sandor is gonna die, though.

Okay, I'm going to be very boring and obvious, but that's just too bad.

Hans Landa, of course.

Date: 2011-09-27 11:17 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
How surprising. ;) Couldn't you have given me my darling Hellstrom? ;)

1) Duh, obvious answer. I adore him. Not much else to say.

2) Hellstrom. Nobody else in canon comes to mind. I mean, I'm sure there are countless other people Landa had more or less long relationships with, but I doubt they were characters in the movie. ;)

3) I'd ship him with Hellstrom even without the sex. And in a very mutual mind-fucking way I ship him with Heydrich. There are also some characters in other fandoms that Landa should meet one day, in crazy crossover world.

4) Does not shipping him with Shosanna count as an unpopular opinion? Because I honestly don't give a fuck about that pairing. I also wish he had got away without any punishment at the end of the movie. Just because.

5) See above.

From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com
I'd love to know what other characters in other fandoms Landa should meet.

I ship Heydrich with so many people it's not even funny. He's a perfect match for Hans Hotter, the greatest Wotan of all time. Hotter always made fun of the Nazis, so it's easy to see him being called into see Heydrich and then subsequently bending Heydrich over his desk for giving up music for all his SS shenanigans.

Oh, please do Hellstrom, I'd love to see what you say about him!

From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
Other fandoms also have their somewhat sociopathic, manipulative, highly intelligent schemers, and I always wonder how these people would fare against each other. Mind Fuck has Toreth, A Song of Ice and Fire has Roose Bolton and Tywin Lannister (you'd like both of them, I think), Forgotten Realms has ... more people than I can count who fit that description ...

Haha. ;)

Oh, Hellstrom, let's see ...

1) Do I have to answer this? You know how much I adore him and his middle-class sleaziness. ;)

2) Mostly Landa. Stiglitz in my crazy head canon in which they were childhood friends. And Hicox. Hell, anyone. ;)

3) Also Landa, see above. They're wonderful together, whether they're fucking or not.

4) I like him? Is that unpopular? But at least IB fandom seemed to love him as well.

5) I wish he had survived, even though his death scene was epic. He could have left with Landa in the end, to spend their life as war heroes in the US. ;)

From: [identity profile] deborahkla.livejournal.com
Omigod, yes, Toreth!!! One of my very favorite characters. I could easily see the dueling mindfuckery between those two, and Toreth would probably subdue Landa in the end. Toreth and Hellstrom would be an even more fascinating match-up.

I've enjoyed the Stiglitz/Hellstrom stories you and Nariel have written and quite like the idea of them being childhood friends who went in vastly different directions. And of course, I like to think that Stiglitz going postal on all those SS officers has a lot to do with his heart being broken by Hellstrom.

I remember you mentioning at one point that had Hellstrom lived, he and Landa would have set up house on Nantucket Island and lived happily ever after, until Hellstrom died of lung cancer, which is a vastly appropriate ending. ;-D

John Winchester!

You know you want to. (;

Date: 2011-09-27 01:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
Of course I want to. I love John. <3

1) I adore John, he's my favourite Winchester, and I don't know why fandom hates so much on him. He was a normal guy who ended up in an absolutely terrible situation, and he tried to make the best of that situation. Of course he made mistakes on the way (mostly abandoning Dean (and Sam) and trying to fight the demon on his own), but mostly I think he did a good job. He wanted to keep his boys safe, he wanted them to know how to protect themselves, and I don't understand how people can hate him for assuming that responsibility instead of sticking his head in the sand and pretending that everything is alright.

2) Dean. <3 And I don't feel one bit ashamed for it. I love John/Dean, it's one of my favourite pairings ever. I'm honestly not too big on John/Mary.

3) Bobby. They must have been hilarious together and I wish we would have seen them together on the show.

4) I think he did a good job raising his sons, as far as that was possible in his situation. I don't think he was a bad father, and I generally love him. That's pretty unpopular, I think. I also think that John and Dean are alike, not John and Sam.

5) I wish he hadn't died, or had come back, or at least appeared in flashbacks. I'm happy JDM's career is going so well, but it's still a pity that there are so few episodes in which John actually appears. :( Tbh, I think I would have loved if Supernatural was about John and Dean rather than Dean and Sam. ;)

That's mean, he's not fictional. :/

1) How do I feel about the real guy? A pathetic opportunistic fuck with a crush on Heydrich. Fictionalised? He amuses me. He's just so ... sad.

2) Duh, Heydrich. Although that's less romantic than sexual and other mindfuckery. And I don't feel bad because even Schellenberg himself shipped them. ;)

3) Tadaaaa, Stierlitz. ;) Nobody for the real guy, I suppose.

4) I can't really take him seriously. Is that an unpopular opinion?

5) I'm pretty okay with what happened to him. ;)

So true! I will never get over how much he fawned over his boss in his memoirs.

I'm pretty okay with what happened to him.
I would have loved to see the look on his face when he discovers Stirlitz true identity one day. I can't read the books in Russian so I don't know if Schellenberg ever found out.

And Schellchen was SO GAY. I mean, he admits in his memoirs that one of the reasons he chose the SS was that he found the black uniform "quite dashing", and find me another autobiography or memoir written by a man that goes into such scrupulous detail in describing the physical features of other men but only refers to women as "pretty" if he refers to them physically at all. He refers to a Polish spy as "tall, well-built, and had a handsome face," then goes on to describe how the spy felt "a bond" with him. It's tidbits like this along with all the unapologetic cloak-and-daggery that makes his memoirs entertaining. That and the fact that a post-war German journalist said "his almost feminine sensibility made him as moody as a film star no longer sure of success."

Schellchen the aging queen, a veritable Norma Desmond! The mind reels! But other than that, you're absolutely right, he was an opportunistic whore.

Not to mention that he was pretty much in love with Heydrich. Pages and pages of fanboying and describing him in detail, followed by a short "of course I was soooo afraid of him and didn't like him AT ALL."

But, yes, more than anything he was an opportunistic whore. But let's face it, most of the important NS officers, party functionaries etc. were fairly pathetic guys. Even Heydrich, much as I admire him for other things, was fairly pathetic in other regards.

I couldn't agree with you more. For supposedly pure Aryans, they were all incredibly flawed human beings. What I found most interesting in Schellenberg's memoirs was his description of Himmler as a pathetic, toadying little dweeb. As much as I find it hard to believe that anyone would follow someone as unappealing as Hitler, I find it even harder to believe that Himmler, the chinless chicken farmer, led the SS and was actually Heydrich's superior. Yegads.
